Is it time to burn your flag?
I am not an advocate of flag burning. I find it offensive but I respect anyone's right to burn one's own property. With that said, there is only one time I feel it's appropriate to burn a flag.

When the flag is so worn or soiled that it is no longer suitable for display, it should be destroyed in a dignified manner, preferably by burning.

I look at my flag now and it is splattered with logos and dripping with the blood of innocents. So when you see me burning my flag, please don't think I'm doing it in protest. I just don't feel it's suitable for display.

1. The flag is an empty symbol w/o the Constitution.

3. I suggest doing it privately
Because most people don't know that burning is considered the proper form of etiquette for disposing of a damaged flag. In public, some wingnut "superpatriot" might see you burning the flag and go ballistic.

4. I'd never do it in public...
when I'm ashamed of something, I do it in private.

5. Request an Honor Guard
A lot of local military bases will provide an Honor Guard if you want to have a respectful flag-burning ceremony. If you conduct one for the neighborhood, you might be able to find a bugler who can blow Taps during the process. Make sure to submit your request as far in advance as you can. A month is good.

Invite the local Freepers. Maybe they'll learn something about flag protocol -- and honor -- from the Libbruls they love to trash.

6. Most local VFW's will do it for you too.
It is the respectful thing to do when the Flag is tattered and needs to be respectfully retired.

9. Not yet ...

I fly mine upside down ... have ever since Nov., 2004, just like my avatar. I had a few neighbors attempt to educate me on how I was incorrectly displaying the flag until I explained to them exactly why it was being displayed in this manner. They avoid me now, but they get the point, and they get it in a way that doesn't give them the opportunity to accuse me of being disrespectful of the flag itself.

15. I should get one of those ...

I have an OU flag that I modified into sort of a peace flag. I painted the symbols inside the "O" to modify it. This just seemed to confuse people. Not a bright bunch of folks around me. :-)

16. Come on, Roy, you know that is WAY too
subtle for your neighbors. Gotta smack 'em up side the head w/a 2 x 4 to get their attention, ya know? In a loving way, of course. Call me...I'll share my peace flag. :)

11. I think it just might be that time
quite unfortunately.

As you have pointed out, it has become quite stained,
but you might want to wait for just the right time

12. If fuel cost get so bad you really need some heat...
to keep from dying it would make a certain amount of sense. The energy companies don't give a shit about flags, countries or people. With them, it's your money or your life. If your life is at stake, I say do what it takes to stay alive.

has been spoken, (flag burning) since...

A dead, non-issue...

Perhaps in Bill, Hillary indeed has the most astute political genius & adviser in the land?
