1. Isn't it pretty much unheard of? |
|
You almost can't sue the president.

4. No, you do not have to impeach him first. |
|
The constitution does provide for impeachment (really the equivalent of indictment). It does not say the president cannot be arrested. A congressmen have been charged and convicted of crimes, so can a President.
There is ample examples of Presidents (except for nixon, not US presidents) being run out of office.

5. I've always wondered about that! |
|
What if one day he pulls out a gun and shoots a newsreporter could the Secret Service or any other agency take him into custody on the spot or do they have to stand by for a hearing?

6. It goes: impeach, try, remove from office and THEN |
|
charge and try under the system the rest of us face. In order to be charged with crimes and tried in a court of law, a president has to be removed from office by a combination of the House, the Senate, and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Then he's handed over to the authorities once out of office.
The Senate can't impose any penalty beyond removal from office, as far as I know, so the system has to take over once he's out.

7. Theoretically, He's Subject to Arrest Like Any American |
|
Practically, it would be hard for a Judge to enforce an arrest warrant...
Might be a lot of fun to watch, now we just need a Grand Jury to indict him.
