Vietnam era DUers - Remember 'Tiger Cages' and the outrage?
Edited on Sat Jun-17-06 09:47 PM by TomInTib
Remember how the NVA was portrayed as inhuman savages because of the cages?

Special Operations interrogators gave some detainees only bread or crackers and water if they did not cooperate, according to the investigation, by Brig. Gen. Richard P. Formica of the Army. One prisoner was fed only bread and water for 17 days. Other detainees were locked for as many as seven days in cells so small that they could neither stand nor lie down, while interrogators played loud music that disrupted their sleep.

< aside: I spent a month on bread and water, 3 days on and 3 days off, in a Marine Brig. That regimen will absolutely mess with your mind. >

General Formica found that in the third case at a Special Operations outpost, near Tikrit, in April and May 2004, three detainees were held in cells 4 feet high, 4 feet long and 20 inches wide, except to use the bathroom, to be washed or to be interrogated. He concluded that two days in such confinement "would be reasonable; five to seven days would not." Two of the detainees were held for seven days; one for two days, General Formica concluded.

3. not a vet, but the wife of one, and yes, I do remember--and I wonder how
in the world the thugs of this administration can possibly live with themselves as they sanction torture, cruelty and hatred.

"as ye sow, so shall ye reap" or "what goes around, comes around" I have a terrible feeling that the maladministration, and all who sanctioned it, along with the rest of us, who didn't know what we could do (at least, anything that was legal, ethical and moral) are going to have a terribly high price to pay.

4. Don't these idiots realize they are making life long enemies that........
....their kids and their grandkids may end up fighting??

How soon would we forget if an Army came here and took over our country and tortured our citizens?? What measures would we take to get revenge?

The answer to that is, we'd be teaching our kids, grandkids, great-grandkids how terrible that invading army was and that they should make it their life's work to kill everyone of them they could.

Guess what we will get from them??

7. Wow second time today. Tiger Cages - Con Son prison - Ours.
Edited on Sat Jun-17-06 10:49 PM by Warren Stupidity
And before we regurgitate this entire thread - the vietnamese tortured and abused prisoners too. Tiger Cages - the real bona fide Tiger Cages, were all on our nice little prison island of Con Son where we housed our victims in holes in the ground with bars for a roof.
