,...aggressive imposition of oppression, upon any innocent?

My mother and I had a discussion a couple nights ago about the path of this country. We agreed that a fork was reached about thirty years ago,....and our country took the left rather than the "RIGHT" path (and noted how the powers-that-be reverse reality). Sadly, we agreed that, like Germany, this country may "hit bottom" before turning back and travelling the right path.

I actually felt some relief from that discussion. Is that strange? :shrug:

1. What's valuable about "lies, greed, etc." Nothing. Absolutely Nothing.

Centuries ago Thucydides wrote about War and Civil Strife, and his great History of the Peloponnesian War was written 'to last forever' so long as human nature remained the same. His words have been quoted in so many eloquent speeches since, and most of his teachings were contained in speeches by politicians of the numerous political factions and parties that governed Ancient Greece and the surrounding countries (city-states). His speeech on Democracy is the single most moving speech I have ever read. He had the following to say about Civil Strife and War:

"When civil strife had once begun in the cities, men changed the conventional meaning of words as they chose."

He implied that this was a sign for 'bad times' in human affairs, much like 'double-speak.' I shudder each and every time I hear the "Christian" B* speak of Democracy, Liberty, Freedom, and etc., as he is so radically opposed to the truth of these words, that they have lost their meaning when he utters them. And I always think fondly of Thucydides' warnings....

He was speaking in the aftermath of the 1848 revolutions, if I am not mistaken. While I'm no anarchist, I think he makes some outstanding classic observations here, especially in the Age of Terra with Goldstein lurking behind every corner...
