Gen. Casey claims the "Shiite Insurgency" is backed by Iran

http://www.navytimes.com/story.php?f=1-292925-1890811.php

<snip>

Casey said the U.S. military and the Iraqi government “have several different strands of contacts going on, and there are opportunities in that regard we just haven’t had before.” He did not elaborate. He also said the insurgency has grown more complex in recent months, and he complained that it has been assisted by Iranian special operations forces who provide bomb materials, weapons and training to Shiite extremists in southern Iraq.

“They are using surrogates to conduct terrorist operations in Iraq both against us and against the Iraqi people,” Casey said. “It’s decidedly unhelpful.” He added there has been a “noticeable increase” in the problem since January, but he could not quantify it.

Casey also said Iran has become the main source of materials to make makeshift roadside bombs that regularly kill U.S. troops as well as Iraqis. “Those primarily come from Iran,” he said. “We’re seeing attacks and we’re finding more of them. So it’s coming in from, we believe, Iran.”

I thought the insurgency was a bunch of "Saddamists"?

6. You noticed that too?
Never mind it was some of the same people in office now who
brokered a deal for an "October Surprise".

Oh, and Iran/Contra.

Bet they don't mention those.

5. Acceleration phase of the Iranian Demonization to justify subsequent
violence for political gain.

Disgraceful.

George W. Bush is the cause of the insurgency.

8. Doesn't that play right into Zarqawi's plans??
From them memo found at Zarqawi's safehouse.

3. By advertising that Iran has chemical and nuclear weapons and is threatening the west with these weapons.

4. By executing exploding operations in the west and accusing Iran by planting Iranian Shi'a fingerprints and evidence.

5. By declaring the existence of a relationship between Iran and terrorist groups (as termed by the Americans).

6. By disseminating bogus messages about confessions showing that Iran is in possession of weapons of mass destruction or that there are attempts by the Iranian intelligence to undertake terrorist operations in America and the west and against western interests.

Let us hope for success and for God's help.

It figures - play right into their hands. What fools.

9. Shiite insurgency? What fecking Shiite insurgency?
Edited on Fri Jun-23-06 10:19 AM by NNN0LHI
I thought it was a Sunni insurgency. When did it become a Shiite insurgency?

We are training Shiites to become Iraqi police and soldiers I thought?

Something doesn't seem right here.

10. I don't doubt
that insurgents are coming in from Iran....They where told before the war that is exactly what would happen. Now if we go for Iran...I have to wonder where the insurgent there will be from..and so on and so on and so on....

This would not have happened if we didn't go in .....there is no good end to any of this...

11. The stuff on Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's
laptop contained a declaration that one of their objectives was that "they" should create dis-information that the Iranians were supplying the Shia's in order to turn the USA against Iran. Does this mean Casey & Co have now decided to disregard the very information they found to be so precious when they found it ?

12. *ss says we are fighting a war against a religious terrorist by
fighting in a nation that merely belongs to the same religion and then they claim that other countries with the same religion are supporting the Iraqi people. That is the problem in a nutshell.

You cannot fight terrorism done in the name of religion by attacking a nation. Of course people from other Islamic nations are supporting their fellow believers. It should have been a forgone conclusion that Islamic people would defend their faith from the attacks of what they consider "the Great Satan". We are very lucky that more nations did not move to help the two nations under attack. If it ever appears that we are winning it could still happen. If we are dumb enough to go into Iran this maybe the results.

Terrorism should have been fought from two fronts: first, through law enforcement channels not military and second, through working for economic justice throughout the world - especially when the injustice is at our hands. The book the Ugly American is even more relevant today.

13. True or not, there was no place for Iran in Saddam's Iraq
But, then again, the plan was for a flourishing democracy (and, more important, free enterprise) in Iraq that would lead nations like Iran to ditch the clerics, form PACS, build golf courses and make Wal-Mart a household name.

I wonder if these PNAC'ers ever dream of a do-over?

So then why the F did you remove Saddam so they could take over?!?! Assholes!!!!

They basically handed Iraq to Iran (their so called enemy in the axis of evil)

I don't get it... will never get it and I am not even sure they actually know what their agenda is at this point.

Nothing this bushit fested admin does makes any sense whatsoever.

15. -- Sign this petition against military action against Iran --

It is with grave concern that I observe the growing threat of a new U.S. war--this time against the people of Iran.

For a collection of articles and resources on this subject you can visit this link: http://reseaudesign.com/research/iran/iran_summery.html

I'm starting up a petition which I will be sending out to as many members of Congress as possible. I'm asking for help to get this signed by as many people, possible in the next month. Send it to as many people you can.

thanks,
J-shmoe
