Fired up!
I'm sick of listening to the lies. I'm sick of reading the lies. I'm sick of trying to refute the lies.

Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11. Saddam and OBL hated each other. Saddam was an asshole, but there are a LOT of assholes out there.

Telling the truth is not treasonous. It's telling the truth. Something more politicians should try now and again.

The "liberal" media is anything but liberal. It's beholden to the advertisers, who have their OWN fucking agenda. It's entertainment, and not even GOOD entertainment. It's not remotely connected to the truth anymore. It's all about ratings, and ratings are all about commercials, and commercials are all about corporate advertising. It's a no brainer.

People need the help of their community to succeed. There's no such thing as bootstrap levitation. No man or woman is an island, and without community support, people are lost...or crawl off into the woods to mail letter-bombs.

Everyone deserves decent healthcare, and socialized medicine actually works! The ONLY flaw in the system at that point is if fewer people can afford to become doctors because they go into debt trying to pay their way through medical school on student loans.

What part of "you can't fight an enemy you can't even identify" don't these people get? Not all Iraqis, Arabs, or Muslims are the enemy. The enemy is a mindset--and it's the same goddam mindset our current government seems to embrace. Violence is rarely an answer to anything without sincere attempts at diplomacy and compromise to go along with it.

People who've never been to war should not be allowed to play army with REAL SOLDIERS.

Gay marriage is only a threat to people who don't understand that marriage is a partnership, not a ownership contract.

The PEOPLE own themselves--their bodies and souls do not belong to the State, their employers, their church, or anyone else.

Freedom of speech is sancrosanct. Mess with it at your peril.

We OWN the government. Not the other way around.

You can oppose abortion or effective birth control and sex education. Pick one.

If I want to hear about Jesus, I'll ask.

Higher wages for the lowest classes means more money to spend. More money for the upper classes means LESS money spent. Which do you really think stimulates the economy?

Marx called religion "the opiate of the masses." These days in America, it's probably sports. Religion is more like a hullucinigen.

"Don't do drugs. Except these. And these. And these. And these."

"Alternative energy is a pipe dream." Yeah, kinda like the moon landing.

"America. Love it or leave it." You first.

The Death Penalty is retroactive abortion.

If this administration gave a SHIT about education, they'd fund it. Talk is cheap. Education isn't.

People shouldn't have to go deep in debt just to become more productive members of society.

Minimum wage jobs do not contribute to the tax base.

A stellar teacher is worth a hundred times more than a sports star. It would be nice if they made even a tenth of the salary.

A tiny fraction of the population is getting a free ride on everyone else's labor. And complaining about everyone else while they're getting it. Must be nice.

"Freedom isn't free." As soon as someone explains to me how killing and dying in a dusty place across the ocean contributes to OUR freedom, I might be inclined to agree. Near as I can tell, with illegal wiretapping, illicit surveillance, and 'free speech zones,' we're paying one hell of a high price for increased restrictions on freedom. Tyranny isn't free either, apparently.

What makes some people think big business is more benevolent than 'big government?' Were they repeatedly dropped on their heads when they were little?

Okay, I agree with you. Bush isn't stupid. He's just an asshole. Feel better?

If unscrupulous employers didn't HIRE illegal immigrants, they wouldn't be rushing the borders. Who do you think's really to blame? People who will risk everything to have a better life, or those who already have everything but want cheap labor to exploit so they can have more?

The political divide in this country will never be healed as long as people like Ann Coulter are running around spewing shit. Maybe if she actually ate something once in a while she wouldn't be so damned nasty all the time.

Hey, if the CEO of Pollution Inc. wants to take a crap in the corner of his own living room, that's okay with me. But the minute he tries to crap in my house, I'm going to smack him in the head with a big stick. I don't care WHO his friends are.

I'd rather be friends with a spotted owl than an ignorant logger.

I'm more worried about Grand Theft America than Grand Theft Auto. Call me crazy.

I don't know if this administration had anything to do with 9/11. But I do know they've screwed up just about everything they'd done since. I've never seen any bunch of people more deserving of walking papers in my entire life. And I've worked with some real losers.

If we're depending on the Supreme Court to defend the Constitution, we are in some DEEP shit.

1. Are You Working On A Campaign?
Take all that energy and make a difference...and it can start with just a simple trip to your local Democratic Party office and the question "how can I help".

While winning control of the House and/or Senate won't remove all the problems and some questions you pose we'll never get true answer on, it's more important to put the brakes on these crooks...cut back their power and make them accountable in some form or fashion.

It can't be stated enough how important this November's elections are...for the future of this country and that of the Democratic party.

8. I'm a writer with social anxiety...
I don't do telephones, and I'm not particularly good at talking to people I don't know. Writing is my best method of communication. I've gotten a few people to vote who have never voted in their lives.

I do what I can.

9. The way I see it on both sides its all about the money
Let's face it, even Kerry has money. Why isn't regular joe shmoe out there campainging? Why isnt the DNC supporting a regular working man to run for office. I'm telling you, if you get someone out there that says--listen, I'm one of you. I work 40 hrs a week and then some to pay my bills, I have less and less time to play with my kids and pay attention to their schooling. I haven't had a vacation in 2yrs unless you count Christmas and thanksgiving as vacation. Medical bills are sky high for my aging parents. I'm not even sure how my son's going to go to college, or how we will pay for it because according to the gov't we make too much money. I'd like to see where all that extra money is because I have 10.00 left in my pocket for the week. Sorry about my apperance. I don't own a fancy suit... hence the khaki docker pants and Sears brand button down shirt. I know I need a hair cut, but I'll go on Saturday after I mow the lawn and before I take my wife out for a nice dinner at Olive Garden. The stuble on my face is due to my daughters taking too much time in the bathroom this morning.

I don't care much for the war. Its costing too much money and my nephew is over there. I'd like to see him whole than in a body bag. Gay marriage doesn't much affect me, I'm not gay. Do what you want to do just as long as it doesn't affect me... last I knew the guys down the street didn't ask me to join them in the bedroom, but damn that Todd is sure handy... he helped me put up the shed in the back yard (which I found out was in violation of some ordinace--so I had to pay a fine and a tax).

13. We Need People Power
Money greases the wheels and one problem the Democrats dug them into was keeping all their money in the beltway and letting the local parties fade and die on the vine. Unlike the Repugnicans who used their local parties to build up their base, the Democrats took the mindset that money and "just being right" would be enough to win elections, it isn't.

The problem is a "plain Joe" or Jane in running for local office is how the game has been rigged in favor of both parties over the past decades. You need to be independently wealthy to run for any office as just running to get on the ballot can be a fulltime job...getting the signatures and overcoming the challenges a serious candidate always brings. From one whose worked on several campaigns...big and small...it takes a certain personality to run in these things, too...as your private life and any "sin" you've committed over the years is sure to be dragged out.

One suggestion I've had to to shorten the campaign season. Just like Britain, you limit the campaign to 90 days instead of the non-stop electioneering that goes on now. There's a cottage industry of fulltime "consultants" and campaign workers who have sprouted up that just signifies how entrenched this has become. Also, in those 90 days, require broadcasters to make 5 minutes of free airtime available each evening for any and all candidates who want to get on the air, and again put in place the rules where candidate qualify for the lowest "card" rate for advertising...instead of charging them top dollar that alway favor the deep-pocket candidate.

As Tip O'Neill says "All politics are local"...and if there was an election that signifies that, it's this one. The fact you have a loved one in Iraq is case in point...you know how its affecting your community and what one or two other key issues are important...including health care, education and the economy...plenty here for each Democratic candidate to craft a local message and win elections one district at a time.

Also Democrats need to go more than lip service. The low turnout in the recent Busby election in San Diego should be a wake-up call that we need to reach out better to our own and make sure they take that anger and turn it into votes this November...you'd be amazed how many will find a reason not to vote but still can bitch up a storm.

26. Bet if they handed out a Free IPOD after voting, turn out would
be better... Same rules apply... Go cast your vote, whoever you want and give them their ipod as they leave... I can guarantee you young people would vote just for the IPOD.. Shoot give away a free t-shirt and they show up. Ever see a popular radio station just have people attend their functions because they give away free shit.

And may I add a recent thought on Coulter because I refuse to start another thread on her.

The need for attention stems from insufficent praise for success in toilet training during childhood. Coulter was most likely left to her own devices in a dark room.

6. It ISN'T About Ratings, It's About Helping the Republicans

It's not remotely connected to the truth anymore. It's all about ratings, and ratings are all about commercials, and commercials are all about corporate advertising. It's a no brainer.

If it were about ratings, we would hear a lot more about all the Republican scandals, like trading hookers for government favors
in the Watergate. That scandal has everything including sex! What more could they want?
It's obvious isn't it? They only cover scandals that involve Democrats, and they will report those endlessly as we saw during
the Clinton administration.

Nielsen ratings now take a back seat to George Bush**'s approval ratings.

Every day, in every way, every network and almost every newspaper will do everything in their power to elect Republicans.
They are a fully-integrated part of the Republican party, operating at no cost to the Republican party, giving them the
equivalent of a bottomless campaign war chest.

17. Yeah, there's truth to this...
Problem is I was trying to keep it short and sweet rather than having to dig into too many details. The idea is that the advertisers own the "news" and what is said is what they want it to say.

"You can oppose abortion or effective birth control and sex education. Pick one."

I agree x a million. It's a wee bit hypocritical (if you ask me) to oppose both abortion and effective birth control and sex ed. Cause good birth control and sex ed actually PREVENTS abortions-ever thought about that, freepers? I guess you didn't cause you were too wrapped up in what the whole (freeper, mind you, I don't want to offend pro-life democrats if there are any on this site) "pro-life" movement is-control over women. Sorry to break it to you, Mr. Freeper, but they don't care about the fetuses when they're sending GROWN, FULLY FUNCTIONING, THINKING, FEELING HUMAN BEINGS off to Iraq to die for their own perverse set of so-called "values". You people, Mr. Freeper, want women to be submissive and dominated by men. Cause thats those good ole A'murkin values that you fight SO PASSIONATELY for, for ya there.......

:puke:

Oh and by the way, K & R for an excellent rant. =D

Seriously...why doesn't anyone point it out to them?!?! That they're spewing blatant hipocracy in the name of "preserving human life". If they were really all that keen on "preserving human life" then they wouldn't be so eager to go to war all the time because, you know what, WAR KILLS HUMANS. WAR KILLS THINKING, FEELING, HUMAN BEINGS.

Gosh, now I'm getting fired up.
