Will you still be calling for "patience" at the end of Bush's second term? |
|
Edited on Mon Jun-26-06 02:59 PM by Stevendsmith
There seems to be a lot of people here who are serenely and confidentally awaiting the hammer of justice to fall on the Bush/GOP criminal enterprise. "Patience", they tell me, when I express my rage and despair that these bastards get away with everything.
My question to these people is this. Are there limits to your patience?
When it's January 2009, and Bush is in the final days of his presidency, will you still be counseling patience?
I'm not trying to be a jerk.
I just want to know if there is a limit to your patience.
I mean, these assholes have been shitting on this country and the world for over six years.

right now we are at the mercy of the prosecutors, re the Plame investigation.
In 2008, we will be at the mercy of the electoral system.
So tell me -- what can "we" do now?

But it just seems that there are many here who think the jig is going to come up for these guys, and I'm just not seeing it. I can't share in their relaxed confidence.

I am scared shitless that the repukes will find a way to overturn the 22nd amendment and find a way for Bush to Diebold another three or four elections. :scared:

There, I said it. I've probably offended enough swing voters and centrists with that statement to lose it for us again in '08. There will be no investigations. He and Dick will walk away from the wreck they're making of this country with money falling out of their fat trouser pockets and laugh all through the next POTUS's term who'll be trying to clean up their mess.

Do you all know that Nixon had a study commissioned to see the affects of martial law and no election? That is before he was got rid of.

can do. Or perhaps the magnitude of this administrations evil is just too much for anyone to comprehend.
My guess is that they will get away with everything and sometime in the future when Bush has passed on the history of his evil doings will be made known.
We are living actual history that people will look back on hundreds of years from now.
The wealth that has been gotten will be passed down to heirs. Cheney will not find a way to take it with him to his eternal after life. Bush will not be revered as a great man.
I hope these years will be lessons for us to learn from. I hope they lead to a new progressive period in this country. I hope this never happens again.
I believe in Karma and what Gandhi said, " When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible but in the end, they always fall -- think of it, ALWAYS."
This too shall pass.

All BushCo is doing is waiting out the clock. The longer they're there, the more time they have to ingrain their insidious laws into our government. Not that BushCo will lose in 2006 or 2008, but if they did, you can be sure that the republicans will be calling for US, the Democrats, to stop being so hungry for revenge. When will people learn that these people don't play by the normal rules of decorum. The GOP could give a flying fuck about facts and appearances. Their ONLY goal is POWER. There is no level that is too low for them to stoop. No lie too bold to tell. No truth which can't be confused with Swiftboating, hatred and pandering. The fact that we're waiting at all to go for the jugular is really pissing me off.

Let bygones be bygones they will say. (Of course this assumes that we have fair and honest elections and that Jeb McBush is not the next prezinet.) All water under the bridge. No use in stirring up trouble. And if our leaders have their way the new democratic executive will follow a marginally modified neocon program as they will not want to look soft on terrorists of course, as we cannot afford to fail in whatever military blunders we are engaged in by 2009.

Of course my patience has limits. I've pretty much been pissed off since 9/11. But I'm confident because....the pendulum always swings. The current era of government secrecy and subversion can't last forever; the American people won't allow it. It really is only a matter of time before our rights are restored to us. It may not be the next election (hopefully, it will be). But it will happen eventually, as nothing lasts forever. Ringo
