In 2009 how do we restore the media to...........
......be the voice of the people that it once was??? I know, I know, some people will question whether the media ever did work for the people. Regardless of how you feel about that issue, we can all admit the media was a whole lot better at taking up the people's concerns in 2000 than it is now. So how do we get back to that 2000 status??

While we're at it, how do we make sure no one can ever again cherry pick the Constitution apart, regardless of which party they come from??

I can't think of enough filthy adjectives to describe that :puke: WH squatting s.. of a f...... b.... that can make it past the mods. Love you guys!!:grouphug: So if anyone has a few ideas about colorful adjectives then let's deal with all three issues at the same time.:applause:

1. You can try voting with your pocketbook, but the media is pretty much
a corporate tool. They are like a moth to flame; but their destination is POWER. When the Democrats take back the House, the media will be nicer to them. If they take the Senate as well, the ass-kissing will be profound. If they take the White House, they'll be kowtowing.

It has nothing to do with ideology with them, it's all about access to power.

The Monkey screwed up, though--he didn't give them access, just the odd crumb to the favored few, like Faux and Limpballs. They've finally awakened, and realize that he never will.

2. Not in 2000 either. They started brain washing us during the first
Gulf War. We didn't know it at the time.

To answer you question. We boycott their advertisers and we demand our Reps. enforce the Fairness in Media Act. We get someone at the FCC who will listen to us. We call...

3. Two words: Fairness Doctrine.

Two more words: RICO Statutes.

Okay, just kidding about that one.

If you listen to Randi Rhodes at all, she often tells the story of the first time she met Bill Clinton and ended up yelling at him for relaxing media ownership rules. She maintains (and I fully agree) that was the biggest mistake Clinton made in his presidency, for it allowed Clear Channel and Rupert Murdoch (along with second-stringers like Sinclair Broadcasting) to buy up media properties and start forcing their own ideological bent into the content of their respective mini-empires.

Roll back those ownership rules. Smash the media conglomerates. That's what I'd do.

4. Exactly as americanstranger says...Break The Monopolies
Too few corporations own 90% of the media outlets.

Makes for less than a dozen rich conservative owners owning the press, hiring the reporters that tow the line that enriches the owners.

Break the Monopolies!

5. americanstranger, You're right, that has to be our # 1 goal, I had........
.....forgotten just how devastating that decision turned out to be. Let's just hope we take over the House and Senate in November, otherwise, I think this country is done for.

6. If the Dems win in 07, the media will suddenly remember that
they are responsible for holding Congress accountable . . . if a Dem wins the Presidency in 2008, you can be damned sure that there will be calls from the MSM for verified voting . . .
