Repub Co-Worker Believes in LIHOP |
|
He heard me talking to someone about the PreWar Intelligence Hearings on CSPAN and later came into my office to talk. He voted for Shrub in 2000 but not in 2004. HE then brought up LIHOP and MIHOP - he's been reading blogs and believes that ShrubCo is complicit in what happened on 9/11. I suggested that he watch Frontline's The Dark Side for more info on how we got into this mess. He agreed that the only way to turn the country around is to get mores Dems in Congress in 2006. Amazing

1. Your story is just one |
|
of countless examples of why painting all Republicans with the worthless brush is counterproductive. Many, if not most rank and file Republicans are good people capable of thinking for themselves and recognizing what Bush is about. They also tend to give the benefit of the doubt, which is how they were snowed for so long.
We need to keep talking to our Republican relatives and friends. They'll come around and we're going to need them to help clean up this mess.
Amazing indeed. Thanks for posting your story.

6. You say many. You are going too far I think when you say "if not |
|
most". My crazy mother still pisses me off and makes me yell at her everytime I hear her say "I don't think there's anyone else out there who could do as good a job as bush* has."
Last time she said that she was at my house. I invited her over for dinner and I bought a terribly expensive standing rib roast because she hardly cooks for herself anymore and I thought it would be a nice gesture. It was a 47.00 piece of meat and she made my stomach turn when she said that. Ruined the whole entire day.
I got mad (shouldn't have but did) and let her have it. I told her that I'd never see a dime of my social security like she has, nor would I ever receive medicare/medicaid at the rate that rat bastard was raping the country. I just hit the roof.
I should also feel bad about my fit, but I don't. I cannot believe people like her who don't think. Who don't even try to understand what a lying crooked bastard that guy is. And how he's screwed up our present and our future. And the future's of generations to come.
AUGGGHHHHH! Now I'm mad all over again. Anyway, the point is my mom is the typical little old lady. Lives alone, inoffensive, meek, doesn't take shit from anyone but doesn't start shit with anyone (but me). She's just like millions of these crazy old people who don't thing it's right to question authority and can't face the fact that the administration running in this country is totally corrupt.

13. And we need to welcome them with open arms when they come into the light |
|
Take the high road; hold no grudges.
My dad is a life-long Republican... he is fully in the light now and sees BushCo for what it is. It's nice to be able to talk politics with him now. He still can't allow himself to think in terms of LIHOP... I understand though. It's hard to let yourself believe in nightmares.

I hope more are waking up... I found out yesterday my doc is a repub, and a very brainwashed one.
According to him, bush's economic policy isn't what's wrecked the country... it was clinton, because the effects take sooooo long to materialize. How can any sane person believe that nonsense? Do nobel-prize winning economists' opinions really get less respect than those of the paid-for media whores? Really?

5. Amazing how someone so educated can be so blind isn't it? |
|
Before Bush I always wondered how dictators were able to come to power. Now I understand. The people simply become so afraid that they turn off their critical thinking skills. And not just the uneducated ones either, but even educated professionals like doctors.

And yes, it's actually shocking how lacking in critical thinking skills even educated professionals can be.

12. He probably had figured out by 04 |
|
that Shrub was not conservative. He just said that he did not vote for Shrub in 04 - he didn't say who he voted for or if he sat that one out. Good topic for another conversation.
I'm not sure why we're picking nits here. I'm always pleased to learn that someone has seen the light as he did.

15. You say he is a repub co-worker. You say he is conservative. |
|
You say he wants more Democrats in Congress. I'm just trying to understand. Either he is no longer a repub or something doesn't add up.

to seal the deal. It's got none of the speculative fun of the pile of MIHOP movies I could link here, but thats why it's the best. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6757267008400743688
