On Bush's speech patterns

I read a couple threads started by people who are completely embarrassed and ashamed of Chimpy's press performance today.

Remember how lucid and forceful he was the other day when trying to wag his finger at the NY Times?

What's up with that?

I thought the only time he made sense was when he was talking about killing someone.

I didn't see it, but...

the only time he ever gets interested in anything is when he gets to talk about killing, death, destruction, vengence, and revenge. He's a sick man.

They probably misjudged his meds for the day - or he secretly had a drinkie-poo!

4. When I think of someone's speech patterns,

I think about how they group words, which words they emphasize, and how their regional accent may affect what others perceive as their meaning. Their level of education may be a factor, too, if it influences how others interpret what they are hearing. Is that what you mean?

Or, are you talking about how his speech may be addled by other factors, such as his past drug use, drinking, or the alleged ear-piece and wire he wears? He is only coherent when he is angry? Are those the only times his words are his own?

I am not trying to apologize for the idiot. But I am sensitive to how people can be misinterpreted.

Yes, he speaks most fluently when he is discussing violence, destruction, and death. He stutters, uses malapropisms, slurs his words, and tangles up common expressions ("food on their family"; "fool me twice...won't get fooled again") when he speaks either of topics of no interest to him or when the proper wording might conjure up something negative about himself.
