Bush: I can understand why people are concerned about whether or not our strategy can succeed, because our progress is incremental. Freedom is moving, but it's in incremental steps. And the enemy's progress is almost instant on their TV screens. And, of course, I get briefings from our commanders on the ground. I want to assure you that the information -- I make my mind up based not upon politics or political opinion polls, but based upon what the commanders on the ground tell me is going on.

Rumsfeld: "The question of our force levels here will depend on conditions on the ground and discussions with the Iraqi government, which will evolve over time," he said.

March

WASHINGTON — Sun Mar 26, 2006 -- Echoing military commanders, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Sunday the U.S. could withdraw a significant number of troops from Iraq this year if Iraqi forces are able to assume greater control of the country's security.

"I think it's entirely probable that we will see a significant drawdown of American forces over the next year. ... It's all dependent on events on the ground," the chief American diplomat said.

1. WOW! You've done more research than Al Gore.
Someone should make a movie of all these stories.
It could be called "An Inconvienient Bush"
