There's a new segment on Harball called "Hard Brawl". Kate O'B is on with Tom Oliphant and 2 others. Tom, in his quiet manner is taking no shit from Kate who thinks she's going to loud, fast talk her points into stone. But Tom is slipping in quietly and with well chosen words - countering her points and leaving her with tightly pursed lips going into the last commercial.
They've been discussing the SCOTUS decision on Guantanamo. She was declaring that the program crippled to which he replied - the program is functioning today and will function tomorrow, with great body language emphasis. He's been terrific and I hope he's a regular.
Btw, Matthews introduced him as also a contributor to AAR.
The segment is now over.

Plus she has that standard right-wing unattractiveness (Melanie Morgan, anyone?). I could barely stand to watch these segments but Oliphant was great as usual.

had been "retired" from the Boston Globe. Basically, a buyout package, he didn't plan to retire.
I hope he continues write somewhere else!!
