1. Why did his parents let him ride then?
WOW. I wouldn't let my child on one of those if I knew he had a heart problem. Especially given recent history.

3. According to the family he had no health problem
From the Orlando Sentinal this morning this is what the family said yesterday:

The Russell family told Orange County deputies that Michael was in good health.

"There are no previous medical problems they know of," said Orange County sheriff's Detective Mark Hussey, who was assigned to investigate the death. "He said his son had a yearly physical, the most recent just a few months ago."

11. A 12 year old boy in my son's gym class
collapsed and died in front of the class from an undiagnosed brain aneurysm that burst.
Nobody knew about this.

12. Some are silent and aren't investigated unless there is a problem
The poor kid probably had problems with exercise but just thought everybody felt like that. I did that for years with undiagnosed rheumatoid arthritis when I was a kid.

Pediatricians don't generally hook kids up to diagnostic machinery unless they suspect a problem. This kid probably didn't complain of one.

This is a GUESS how it could have happend. Don't be quick to blame the parents or the kid's pediatrician until the whole story comes out.

5. Heart defect in the Florida summer heat at a concrete jungle
Probably a little dehydrated to boot and then after standing in line for 2 hours moving from the hot humid outdoor into the cool air conditioned attraction. That can cause your body to go into shock if you are healthy.
Then he rode a "thrill ride"

But Disney will be made the villain here, I'm sorry, this is one time I must stick up for the corporation.

6. How could anyone make this Disney's fault? No one forced
these people to ride that ride. It didn't derail, nor did the kid fall out due to insufficient restraints.

What possible excuse could anyone come up with that would fly in a court of law?

And isn't that doing the parents a disservice? There is no indication that this will happen yet.

7. The idea that it's anybody's fault is pretty silly.
Accidents happen.

9. The last kid to die
adout a year ago after a Mission Space ride is suing Disney for nopt having the proper rescue gear close enough to the attraction.

If you want to sue, you'll find a reason, and Disney will probably settle.

13. I don't think it's anyone's "fault," however, I do think
that those rides are really pushing the envelope of what the human body can stand, particularly a weakened body. For me, I don't think the thrill is worth it.

8. I feel bad for the boy's family, what a horrible thing to happen
to bury one's child.

I am sure they had no idea he had this heart defect.

10. We've all read stories of young athletes
collapsing and dying on the basketball court or football field because of an undiagnosed heart problem. I suspect this is similar. My thoughts are with the family.
