Allergy medicine in Oregon now RX-only
Edited on Fri Jun-30-06 04:38 PM by Chichiri
Oregon is making certain medicines, such as sudafed and claratin-d, prescription only effective tomorrow.

This means that meth users will just drive up to Washington to get their ingredients, and people with allergies and no health insurance are royally fucked.

I have a friend who lives in Oregon -- is there anything she can do to fight this or circumvent it?

1. Unfortunately,

she will have to spend $$$ for a script. Maybe there are free clinics around.

Is this law about antihistamines? My favorite one is a Walgreen brand that doesn't contain any other ingredients. For me it has been the best and cheapest of all the over-the-counter choices.

edit: maybe she should ask her local elected officials to pay for a script!!!! They are sure loaded with health insurance!!

4. She's talking about suing the state.
Or at least talking to her elected officials IN PERSON.

2. There will be a blackmarket for it soon.
People will just buy it up in large quantities in other states and sell it on the streets in Oregon. Probably a good way to make a few bucks.

3. Here in Ohio we just have an OTC limit on how much you can buy.
Children's cough syrup was on sale (50% off) so I threw 4 of them in my cart (4oz bottles).

When I got to the checkout, I was told that state law would only allow me to buy two.

DAMN! I'll have to close my meth lab without that extra eight ounces of children's cough syrup...

:eyes:
