AAR tonight: John Dean and Glenn Greenwald |
|
some freeper on now, interrupting guest host after asking him if host would've invaded Afghanistan pre-911, based on on the Aug. 6 PDB
pretty funny exchange....freeper thought he had the host, but the host replied that an invasion would have done nothing, that it was already too LATE; they were already in the US.
proper response would have been to warn proper persons/agencies of interest HERE (like, oh, say, the AIRlines), in order that at least minimum precautions could have been taken.

I was dying in laughter! How could someone be so incapable of speaking American English. That's what he gets for living in Dumbfuckistan.

I missed that
Greenwald, per ben burch, is going to be on against David Horowitz tonight: Alan Colmes radio show.
I have Sirius and am going to catch that....Horowitz is really one of the worst, because he's having an actual impact on the country with his incredibly McCarthyite (and, unfortunately very successful) campaign against academic freedom, abetted by none OTHER than Joe Lieberman!!

8. I remember the original story by Ms. Bazelon |
|
very good article. I also read the Dean article this past week.
I knew that Kyl and Graham did this and posted the law it broke (18 USC 1001(a)) when the first arguments for the Hamdan case were given. It isn't a violation of the rules of the supreme court, but it is of the law.

9. yep. there were some good threads about this at DU |
|
Kyl and Graham really pulled a filthy, dirty trick during the debate...after, actually
there was a little bit of a stink raised over Stephens catching them on that during the SCOTUS session.
of course, no mention of it in the M$M

13. I forgot to mention Kyl & Graham are subject to prosecution... |
|
because they aren't parties to the case, and do not have the immunities guaranteed under the law for parties to the case.

14. that's VERY interesting...the host asked Dean if they'll be "punished'' |
|
I missed the answer, but inferred earlier, during DU discussion, that it wasn't something they could be nailed for
of course, it's not going to happen, but it would be wonderful to see 'rule of law' creep Graham get nailed on something like that

17. He said it didn't violate the rules of the Supreme Court... |
|
but it does violate the law. I am certain Dean didn't look up the law. The only reason I am familiar with it is that it was Bush's first impeachable offense (he lied to Congress during the 2003 State of the Union.)

host said he's the originator of the DLC
yep....he and Al From, 1985
says US has squandered moral authority in world as a result of any number of missteps: Abu Ghraib, NSA wiretapping.....(how many OTHERS?)
