6. America "...at the edge of fascism", says John Dean. |
|
Talks about psychological studies about authoritarians in USA...how many WANT to be led by a Dear Leader - about 23% of whom will march over the cliff. Deans new book says this authoritarianism took over the House in 94, now Bush and Cheney are taking it across the board.
Bottom - these people will do whatever it takes to advance their agenda, because they believe....they're RIGHT.

10. His restatements of Noam Chomsky's historical arguments |
|
were beautiful to hear. Hopefully his book and public speaking will aid in bringing the point home to those who would never be caught dead lending any credence to Chomsky.
The essence of DANGER! DANGER! DANGER! in an ever escalating fashion plus the constant patriotic bullshit are the classic methods of maintaining a dictatorship or a fascist regime--proven over long history.
This is one book I must own.

John Dean has a lot of credibility and the progressive/liberal majority is becoming a force to be reckoned with. Following on the spectacular success of president Gore and Inconvenient Truth, I have great hopes.
Machiavelli is a familiar figure to the wingnuts and many of the screamer shows will probably want to have Dean on so they can practice their Rushbo imitations.

13. Dean talked about how terrorism helps repubs |
|
Dean said that stirring up terrorism helps repubs because it gives their followers fear and a comon cause to rally behind. Dean also talks about how repubs demonize Liberals as the enemy.
