In 1998, Governor Bush was touted as the moderate. People polled said that Bush agreed with what they agreed on, even if this was not the case. However, George W Bush was pumped up to be more liberal than Newt Gingrich and the congressional Republicans and he had more morals than Bill Clinton.
I think John McCain fits that mold today. Even though John McCain is as hawkish and conservative as they come, he is wildly popular and he outpolls every Democrat he is matched up against. However, come time he were to become president, we would probably hold the same disapproval for him, if not more, than we hold for Bush.
I just found this to be an interesting observation.

1. alot of moderate R's here in AZ are really disappointed with him lately |
|
since he's been drifting to the right to try to gain their nomination, they don't see him as the "maverick" now, more like someone who will say and do anything to get a little more power.
I really, really hope he loses the nomination in 2008, or he stumbles badly and loses the presidency if he gains the nom, because if he wins, it will be an absolute, total disaster for all the things we've been building in the past few years in arizona.
but, that said, once he's out of the political scene, which could come as early as 2010 (or 2008, if he resigns his seat to pursue the nomination or the general election and loses either), this state is going to be an even deeper purple, trending, very, very slightly blue.

Got to keep the fascism going, always and absolute! But...keep it only in the trusted family. And always continue with our full speed ahead Imperialism - - - Can't trust it to a McCain -- or any other fucking republican clown for that matter... (No way, they'll always just give in to the pressure)...Nope, Jebbie is our only answer to ALL our problems...
He will indeed come out of nowhere with some magical wonderful policy....And you'll say...I NEVER thought....
------ Then you better (about time) recognise that you've been FUCKED!------
You better believe, it's time to toss in the mortgage and haul ass to your favorite dream!!!!!!!!!
I'll just stay and fight.

5. Jeb will be president someday . Hayworth as his VP. McCain is NOT popular. |
|
Here in Arizona he has disgusted his Sun City base, and the the people who would of voted for him prior to the Big Monkey nug love, will absolutely not now. In a horrible future, Jeb will be president, and JD will be a VP. It's an absolute.
