Al Gore's INCONVENIENT TRUTH.
I follow alternative energy fairly closely, but the movie had some details that were news to me. For one, by the time all the cars were recalled, crushed, and shredded, batteries had been developed that would give them about 300 mile range between charges and would last the life of the car.
Essentially, it is the same story as who killed the trollies, with an added layer of obviously corrupt politicians doing the bidding of the corporations who want to profit by stacking the deck against the average joe.

If you like leaving the theater with your mouth hanging open in disbelief at how low some people can sink (especially if they're corporate decision-makers), then this is the movie for you!
