My new slogan: If you aren't liberal when you're young, you don't have
a heart, and if you aren't still liberal when you are old, you don't have a heart or a brain.

1. Yes. How sad to be young and conservative. All shriveled up inside.

3. Does anyone know who came up with that original slogan?
It's a pile of crap!

If you're not a Conservative when you get old you're just SMART.

4. I'd say "heart and brain" for both
but I am biased. I grew up in a very conservative household, and even before I knew what that was always felt different. I got yelled at and called a "damn liberal" by my grandfather when I asked him not to be racist around me, and I asked him what a liberal was. I also angered him repeatedly by sticking up for myself and others that he would complain about, while my older brother and father more or less kissed his butt.

I will say this though: a year or two before he died, he asked me if I was still a damn liberal. I told him that I have a lot of strong beliefs that he would consider liberal, and frankly didn't give a damn what he called me. After a long pause he told me I turned out smarter than "the other two" right in front of my brother and dad.

He was a mean and stubborn old bastard, and we never saw eye to eye on much, but I think he respected me because I felt strongly for what I believed in, and took a stand about it instead of being a suck-up to try to get through life the easy way.

He also told me before he died that the conservatives had never done anything for him, and didn't know why he voted for them. It was as close to an apology as he would ever get, and I was happy to hear it. I can't imagine living like that, and then when death is close regretting being heartless toward everyone.

Anyway.... I like your slogan. :)
