BREAKING: Mass. constitutional convention TABLES gay marriage vote
Edited on Wed Jul-12-06 04:40 PM by Bluebear
Recently the Mass. Supreme Court that enabled gay marriage to become the law of the Commonwealth said that the issue could go on the ballot. It would have had to have been ratified by two consecutive constitutional conventions, but moments ago the legisalture voted to table any discussion of it until after the general election, thwarting the "marriage is one man and one woman" folks for now.

The freedom to love somebody will remain at least until the next state congress?

6. It would appear so!
It just happened, it was like number 20 on their agenda and the haterosexuals wanted it moved to #1 on the roster, and now the body decided to table it outright. :)

10. Hoooray !! This means it will not be on the ballot - this cycle anyway.
Putting the civil rights of a minority group up to a vote seems kind of unconstitutional to me anyway.

13. Fortunately, Massachusetts has not fallen into the ocean.
People still eat fried clams, cheer on the Sox, tune in the Pops on the 4th...

The longer gay marriage is established without disrupting people's private lives (as is the case now), the longer average citizens see it as a total non-issue.
