Did Janeane Garofalo leave the Majority Report?
I can't find any proof.

2. Don't hold me to this but I think I heard some time back that she
was going to cut back on her AAR work. Will still be on but not every day. I think it was reported she didn't feel comfortable in the radio format and not as effective as she wishes. Don't know where I pulled that but it seems that was being reported several weeks back. I like her and love her rants. BTW - She did a great job on West Wing (anyone still in WW withdrawal? Can't imagine it won't be back on with new episodes in Sept. sigh....)

Anyway, just throwing in my 2¢, that is what I recall, more than willing to be corrected.

5. So there's only one show left that I can listen to
Rachel Maddow.

Shit - there goes the dream of Liberal Radio. And Janeane got Sam hired - too bad I can't listen to him or Randi or Al - they simply bore/annoy me.

9. I agree. Janeane was probably the best, imo, along with Rachel
and Stephanie Miller (on another syndicate).

15. That's too bad, because she's the second most brilliant radio host
on the air today. Malloy is the king and Sam is moving up in the ranks quickly.

What exactly does Randi do that makes you cringe?

6. Good. . .Sam Seder is so much better than her.
Her nasally shrill voice gets on my nerves.

8. I liked her for about 6 months, but she changed.
I think she's just frustrated like most of us and she let it affect her work. I can relate.

Sam is a pro. He'll handle the show just fine by himself.

10. Here's something to tide you over
An audio rip of her 1995 HBO stand-up show. (All credit goes to the person who upped this - I've just 'borrowed' the link.)

13. From Sam Seder himself, on their blog:
Not only is Janeane leaving, but there's a possibility that the entire show may go:

Things are up in the air re: the shows fate. Nothing will happen for at least a month or so- one way or the other. No matter what happens to the show, this blog will remain. This blog is not affiliated with AAR.

When I have more information re: the show I will let everyone know. As far as any, petitions or email campaigns and the like, don't know if we'll do that. If anything it will probably be an email campaign to show support for the show, rather than one to save it- don't think we're at that point.

Janeane's leaving is a combo of a lot of things- longtime listners will know that at different times through the past 2 years she's found the monotony (sp?) difficult. For twenty years her professional life has been project to project the adjustment has always been tricky-- I have made this adjustment more easily- with that said, I also don't have the same opportunities she has.

This adjustment was even more difficult for her upon her return from the west wing. Part of the difficulty was my fault as well. I got used to doing the show solo and it was difficult for both of us to recalibrate. Couple those things with her getting another film gig-(about Bruce Lee's death), the recent AAR management shakeup and cut backs and Janeane decided she was ready to move on.

She'll be back time to time and will and is available, when available, to sub.

I will let you guys know what's hapening with the show when I know.

Also, in a week I go on vacation for a week. This has been planned for four months- (though I know it feels like I haven't been doing the show regularly for awhile- it's my first week off since jan 1). Just letting you know so that the Bill O'riely's of the world can't snow y'all.

Blog on!

16. First Morning Sedition...
...now the Majority Report. :grr:

I don't know who is involved in the "management shake-up", but whoever it is, he/she/they have been making a collosal Goat-Screw of things at AAR for some time now.

At least Rachael Maddow is still on the network......for now anyway.

Are they TRYING to fail for crying out loud???? :wtf:

14. Those times I do listen at night...
I've rarely heard her on the show. I've heard guest hosts more often than her, and this has been over several months. However, because of where I live, I don't get good reception and am not a regular listener of any show on AAR. Depending on the time of day and where I'm driving, I can get mediocre reception on WLIB in NYC, but sometimes 1300 out of New Haven or 1200 out of Framingham, Mass.
