MSNBC Now: Bush accidentally blabbers & curses into open mic at G-8 !!11!
Edited on Mon Jul-17-06 06:38 AM by elehhhhna
Nora O'Donnells spinning like a tornado...

Bush caught out by open microphone
From correspondents in St Petersburg
17jul06
US President George W. Bush has been caught out making candid comments on the Middle East crisis by an open microphone at a summit in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg.

Mr Bush was caught saying that a key to defusing the Middle East crisis was for "Hezbollah to stop doing this s**t". "What they need to do is get Syria to get Hizbollah to stop doing this s**t, and it's over," Bush told British Prime Minister Tony Blair...

http://www.theadvertiser.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5936,19820810%255E912,00.html

There's more to it than that, per Nora. Russian media has the audio. LET's FIND IT!

86. The most telling statement...
is made by the reporter on CNN in his lead up to the video:

"President Bush has not supported a cease-fire on the grounds that the White House doesn't think Hezbollah would necessarily follow it."

Someone please explain to me the logic here. I seemed to have missed it.

2. He cursed
"The irony is what they need to do is get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this (expletive) and it's over,'' Bush told British Prime Minister Tony Blair during lunch today, unaware their microphones were on.

152. The Chron? They ALL DO IT and have been doing it for years
Just like the Totalitarian Scum that ruled the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, and all the rest which are less extreme and violent, therefore more Bush-like.

It is commonplace that the Tyrant's Words can whenever possible be shielded from the Subjects, modified to sound less-than-moronic in print media.

This is very old news. And yes, virtually every orifice in Imperial Media does it.

I can't believe a (male) world leader would pick out a sweater for another (male) world leader!!

JUST UNBELIEVABLE! What's next, a locket with Blair's picture in it? How about some perfume and silk boxers?

83. "I know you picked it our yourself,''
Bush, seen on television buttering a roll and eating it while talking, also thanks Blair for the gift of a sweater.

"I know you picked it our yourself,'' Bush said.

"Oh, absolutely,'' Blair responded.

I have to agree with you. A little too creepy.

90. I think so
this seems like a pre-planned major distraction. Bush is an idiot. We already know this, nothing new here.

But he was able to use this 'mistake' to push his propaganda that Syria has something to do with Israel's aggression, and that Israel is only defending itself and would stop. Total Bullshit.

133. His handlers can't control near as many
facets when he's in another country.

You KNOW he does this all the time... only our "liberal, Bush-hating media" won't report it.
How strange, that...

Blessedly, the entire world is audience to the surreal, out of touch, ignorant inanity that issues non-stop from his piehole.

I sure wish he was out of the country much more often. It's the only way his ridiculous, retarded (no offense to the disabled!) bon mots get broadcast to the majority of U.S. citizens. Maybe a few more dozen and they'll realize what a tool (and a fool!) is sitting in the Oval Office.

...I thought you were gonna ask me about the pig! *yuk yuk yuk* :puke:

11. "It takes you eight hours to fly home?"
As he chats with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Bush expresses amazement that it will take Putin and an unidentified leader just as long to fly home to Moscow as it will take him to fly back to Washington. Putin's reply could not be heard.

"You eight hours? Me too. Russia's a big country and you're a big country. Takes him eight hours to fly home. Not Coke, diet Coke. ... Russia's big and so is China. Yo Blair, what're you doing? Are you leaving," Bush said.

115. Just FYI
WWW III is not starting. Israel has been fighting its neighbors since 1948. WWW III would be a bit more serious than anything going on now--heck, what we've got going on is not yet as serious as Vietnam or Korea.

The Bush White House would love to say that this is WWW III, because that would mean it's a serious war against a seriously capable enemy, not a failed series of police actions against disparate opponents who have little or nothing in common.

13. Bush is so...White Trash...
I'm not surprised that he has a dirty mouth, I'll bet Bush puts Nixon to shame. But to do it where it is a public thing is unacceptable. The man picks his nose in public, I won't even venture to guess what he does with the pickings...eat or flick, you decide.

He also likely farts out loud during meetings, and acts like he did during the debates if things aren't going his way.

In general, he makes an ass out of himself, embarrassing the United States and its people. Bush makes Steve Carrel's character on The Office look like a great boss.

make you White Trash. There's more to it than that, much more. It's the entire package. You have to have the whole enchilada to qualify for White Trash.

As Bush proves, you can live in a mansion and still be White Trash. It's not so much the appearance, it's more the actions.

No offense or disrespect to mobile home dwellers intended...

22. Yet another example of Bush's infantile grasp of world affairs
"What they need to do is get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this shit, and it's over," Bush told British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

See? It's just that simple. If Hezbollah would just stop, everyone would be happy again!

against him...FINALLY??? Never mind the toll on human life and limb, the economic disaster that he & Cheney & the neocons are bringing about; those people have defended him to the point of idolatry and of being lemmings.

His public outburst is abominable, but if anything good comes out of this episode, perhaps he (and republicans as a whole, or is that wishing too much?) will lose some of his idolator fans at home!

stupid quip juvenile, then learned Tx cowboy would cover up his flaws in adulthood. He ended up as an uncouth, classless, mean-spirited to the extreme, unthinking, clueless, revengeful person he is. This is the guy they thought they could manage, coach, tutor, and guide into the Presidency and that he would pick-up enough to operate on his own.

It seems that the people who are doing the tutoring need to be tutored.

It is quite obvious from all his avoidable mistakes and deliberately mean gutterings that he really is taken with himself.

U.S. supremacists still say the U.S. is the 'greatest country in the world'. We know it isn't. History will document his part in it. Too bad he didn't reign before fast communication. Too bad they put all those satellites in space.

Just as corporate networks will try to cover-up, excuse, and 'disappear' it - these remarks will just be added to the heavy book containing them all. And there might be some work for right wingers who will attempt to rewrite and publish his history.

I now look down on the word 'yo' - if this is all true. How can it ever be remembered as anything but a non-presidential Bush reference.

124. Israel
Israel is part of the hostilities, but they are not the initial aggressor. To say otherwise is historically inaccurate.

The Jews were in this land FAR before anyone else. This is evident in the ruins of the Temple Mount. It was there long before Muslims came in and created their Shrine.

Should we simply stand back and let them fend for themselves in a sea of hostile nations? That is not a very progressive attitude. At some point we have to take a serious look at the people that we support. Do we want a world where Islam is the major factor? That is the stated goal of that religion; worldwide Shar'ia. No room for gays, women's rights, reproductive rights, freedom of speech and thought in that world.

I may hate Bush and his criminal pack of cronies, but they will be gone in two years - if we are smart enough, Evan Bayh will be the nominee and eventual President. I fear Islam in its current form because the Mullahs do not have term limits. Don't let your hatred of the enemies close to you cloud your sight to those far away, but coming closer.

Bring on the flames....

71. Transcript: Bush's candid comments
Edited on Mon Jul-17-06 09:57 AM by kurth
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13901534/

Bush to Putin: I gotta leave by 2:15. They want me out of town so they can free up your security forces.

No, just going to make it up. I'm not going to talk too long like the rest of them. Some of these guys talk too long.

Gotta go home. Got something to do tonight. How about you? Where are you going home? This is your neighborhood doesn't take you long to get home.

You eight hours? Me too. Russia’s a big country and you’re a big country. Takes him eight hours to fly home. Not Coke, diet Coke. Russia’s big and so is China.

Yo, Blair. What are you doing? Are you leaving?

Blair: No, not yet. On this trade thing…

Bush: Yeah, I told that to (inaudible). If you want me to. I just want some movement. Yesterday I didn't see much movement. The desire to move.

Blair: It may be that it’s impossible.

Bush: I'll be glad to say. Who's introducing me?

Blair: Angela

Bush: Well tell her to call on it. Well, tell her to put me on the spot.

Thanks for the sweater; it was awfully thoughtful of you. I know you picked it out yourself.

Blair: Oh, absolutely!

What about Kofi Annan? I don't like the sequence of it. His attitude is basically cease-fire and everything else happens.

I think the thing that is really difficult is you can’t stop this unless you get this international presence agreed.

Bush: She's going. I think Condi's going to go pretty soon.

Blair: Well that's all that matters. If you see, it will take some time to get out of there. But at least it gives people…

Bush: It's a process I agree. I told her your offer too.

Blair: Well it's only…or if she's gonna or if she needs the ground prepared as it were. See if she goes out, she's got to succeed as it were, where as I can just go out and talk.

Bush: See the irony is what they need to do is get Syria to get Hezbollah to stop doing this s--- and it's over.

Blair: Because I think this is all part of the same thing. What does he think? He thinks if Lebanon turns out fine, if he gets a solution in Israel and Palestine, Iraq goes in the right way, he's done it. That's what this whole things about. It's the same with Iran.

Bush: I felt like telling Kofi to get on the phone with Assad and make something happen. We're not blaming Israel and we're not blaming the Lebanese government.

77. Yeah, we're all laughing. But...
Edited on Mon Jul-17-06 10:29 AM by truth2power
this is really serious. All these "Bushisms" we've been laughing about for 5+ years are indicators of major pathology. Bush is not competent to be in the position he's in, and should have been removed from office long ago on the basis of psychiatric disability.

Bush's Frat Boy image is actually something much more dangerous in someone who's occupying the Oval Office. Bush is childish (that is, immature) in his speech, his facial expressions and his actions. I feel that, for the past 5 years I've been observing a 12 year old. I'm convinced he's suffering from an organic brain disorder, one symptom being social inhibition. This is something one sees in various types of dementia.

We could probably make a list of things that make you go, "WTF?". Things like talking about Blair's toothpaste, the "My Scott is prettier than your Scott" incident, the most recent "Just wait" response to Putin. Also the inappropriate kissing and touching and violating others' space. And on and on. Folks, this is beyond the occasional faux pas that we all are guilty of from time to time.

"Unlike Alzheimer's disease, nonspecific agitation is not common, nor are hallucinations and delusions. Rather more frontal-type symptoms such as loss of interest, obsessional behaviors, loss of social inhibitions leading to social improprieties may be prominent. There may also be mood disturbances in frontotemporal dementia; depression, anxiety, and somatization are not uncommon. Those individuals presenting with language involvement usually have fewer behavioral symptoms, but often have striking impairment of ability to express themselves (primary progressive aphasia) or less often impaired understanding of language (semantic dementia)." <emphasis added>

Why is this situation being allowed to continue? The evidence is there. Bush is seriously ill. A mentally incompetent individual who's setting the world on fire. Innocent people are dying as he continues to rampage and the entire world stands by, helplessly. What is it going to take for people to wake up? :(

82. Frontotemporal dementia.
I can't disagree with your "diagnosis".

However, when you ask:

"Why is this situation being allowed to continue? The evidence is there. Bush is seriously ill. A mentally incompetent individual who's setting the world on fire. Innocent people are dying as he continues to rampage and the entire world stands by, helplessly. What is it going to take for people to wake up?"

... you may be ignoring the real problem, which is Cheney. I'm convinced that Cheney is the real power in this misadministration. Removing Bush, even if it were possible, addresses only part of the problem.

I agree that Cheney is the real Prez. In that sense, it wouldn't matter if Dim Son were gone. This is all such a mess. It's sort of like if you see one cockroach there's hundreds more in the walls. Blech! So many interlocking connections.

I know the, "Who's worse, Chimp or Sneer?" debate continues. But 1. We gotta start somewhere. and 2. Cheney just doesn't have the charisma that Bush does. Might be more difficult to keep the "base" in line.

On the other hand, some of the droids think Rummy is sexy. Hmm. Yeah...we probably are screwed!

95. Politicians curse?!?! No...
I've worked on the Hill and now work in political consulting, and honestly, I'm just missing the big issue here. The President said "sh*t." Guess what... every politician I've ever met curses, even the most polished, progressive ones (in fact, they tend to be the worst). Was it a stupid thing to say? Yes. Is it as big of a deal as everyone makes it out to be? No.

112. More to it than just the curse word, Hill
Edited on Mon Jul-17-06 01:21 PM by Penndems
The President of the United States represents the face of America to millions of people worldwide. JFK and Bill Clinton symbolized youth and vitality. Ike Eisenhower was the Supreme Allied Commander who liberated Europe. LBJ epitomized the stereotypical "tall Texan". Jimmy Carter signified the Georgia peanut farmer who became Commander-in-Chief. Ronald Reagan was "The Great Communicator". Harry Truman was the plain-spoken, decisive businessman from Independence, Missouri.

George W. Bush is our "First Buffoon".

We expect our President to behave in a statesman-like manner when he meets with other heads of state. Instead, as we saw on television this morning, Bush was "whittling" at his food, shoveling it in, and addressing Prime Minister Blair ("Yo, Tony!" - good Lord) with a full mouth. To compound an embarrassing situation, he uttered the expletive in front of a "live" mic. If Bush wanted to hold a casual conversation, he should've waited until the mic was cut, and the press left the room.

Whoever is running his Protocol offices at State and The White House should be fired, if this is the best they can do briefing the President on etiquette, mores and international customs. I'd fire his valet, as well: Bush looked as if he rolled out of bed and put on the first thing he grabbed every day of that trip.

Another take on the gaffe: Bush like to portray himself as an exemplar of the born-again Christian movement. Uttering the "s" word seems to run contrary to the dictates of his religion, although I'm sure his clueless base will spin this as part of The Village Idiot's faux-"Everyman" persona. They eat that crap up, LOL.

BTW, welcome to DU. :hi:

My interpretation is that Bush is being passive here. Now this guy who started with so much contempt for the UN is HOPING Kofi Annan gets on the phone with Syrian leader Assad and requests a Hezbollah stand-down. How likely is such a phone call from Kofi to succeed? How many divisions has he got?

Then there's some vague mention of sending Condi somewhere with some offer? Where? What offer? Who?

Then Bush ends by telling Blair he's making no further statements on who is to blame. How does that end the rocket fire?

Please go back and read my post (#112). You singled out ONE element of the discussion and focused on it - "cherry picking", which is what the far right has a rather foolish habit of doing.

Regarding Clinton: He had an affair? Welcome to D.C. He won't be the first, and he won't be the last. The man has already apologized at least five times, according to my count. Incidentally, here's a question for you:

Which is the more egregious sin: Lying about an affair, or lying about the rationale for a war that's sent over 2,500 soldiers and contractors to their deaths?

Bill Clinton left office on January 20, 2001. It's over - let it go. We've got more pressing problems in the world to deal with that have been created by the current Oval Office occupant.

Thanks for letting me respond.

Between the hatred of Clinton and the love of Reagan, by the way. Here's a Washington Post letter from April 2001. (And no disrespect to Reagan, I hope. It speaks to the Party.)

In the Name of Ronald Reagan

The Washington Post
Thursday, April 26, 2001; Page A26

God help us all on the day of Ronald Reagan's demise. There will be such wailing from the Republicans that name changes will sweep over us like a tsunami. Not even your local bowling alley will be safe.

There is something pathetic and troubling in the way Republicans hold Ronald Reagan in such odd reverence; pathetic because it's all such a desperate insistence on his greatness that it nearly becomes farce, and troubling because there is a willingness among their number to use extortion as a call to worship.

Circles Thomas, Logan, Dupont, Scott, Sheridan and Washington -- look out, one of you is goin' down!

"It was unclear who 'they' were."

Ohhh, very tongue-in-cheek

--in fact downright cheeky!

considering 'they' were He, Blair, et al at that G8 meeting!

'they', the most powerful men in all the world all together
'they', as the U.S. veto of the United Nations vote declared, were the exact people who were supposed to discuss and DO something about this!

on edit:
Rate that article up on Yahoo people! It's only at 3.3 with almost 1,000 votes!
The Emporer's lobotomized subjects don't want others seeing what a fool & a boor their Glorious Leader is!

OMG!! He also insulted everyone saying that they talk "too damn long!". What a fucking ignoramous.

165. So, once again, we have the question:
Was this just a moment of stupidity or a Rovian manipulation? There doesn't seem to be a third option.

I just saw it on our local news. Still shocked they showed it--and they played ALL of the tape--of course shit was bleeped out, but the rest was played. :wow:

Blair's apparently not making many fans either...

the brain. All sorts of problems.

Bush should be the poster boy for drug abuse, and bad parenting!

185. Leaders Are Not Stupid
I would caution people not to listen to the descriptions
of leaders as if they were "stupid" or
"dumb".
Most people who make the important decisions in the world
are not stupid or dumb, and we should remember that and not be
lazy.
