Austin Powers...pick the bad spy movie or thriller of your preference.
I've been channel surfing while DU was down, and it occurred to me that the political intrigue in the world today is like a really bad spy movie/thriller. Is it necessary for the world to live in such a heightened state of drama? I believe that most of the citizenry of the worl would be happy to just take care of their lives on a daily basis. The people put forward seem to be invested in behaving like drama queens parading their angsts and neurosis across the stage. Can you live without the drama? Do we need drama queens? Where can we find more people the calibur of Gandhi or Mandela or King who understand that the struggle of the average person is much more basic than brinksmanship or ramped up rhetoric will resolve?

just want to live their lives in peace. War is the basis of wealth and power for a handful of people. As long as there is no true democracy anywhere there will always be war. It makes a few people rich.
