The MidEast has always been a testing field for our weapons and aircraft
Edited on Sat Jul-22-06 03:17 AM by symbolman
As a kid I was surrounded by WW2 planes my brother had assembled and hung on strings around his room. Myself I made models of everything from the Mercury program to the latest in Aircraft and used to sneak downstairs at 6am when tv shows actually started in the morning after all the stations signed off for the night, and watch a show called, "The Big Picture" or something like that - all war and war machines, what a way to start the day as a 5 year old, eh?

Even did my stint in the USAF (signed up when my draft number was 25 in 1971), and bought many of the Implements of Destruction for use by the troops.

One thing I've noticed all these years is that the US uses the MidEast as a proving ground for weapons, by selling them the second tier of our weapons, probably to see how they worked or how long they lasted under the extreme conditions of the sands, the heat, poor maintenence, etc.

When Reagan was in office we sold weapons to BOTH sides in the Iraq/Iran war - while bearing no responsibility (tho at least Reagan showed up when the Marines were bombed in their barracks, Bush hasn't attended a single funeral.

Now we are practically FedExing Bombs to Isreal while complaining that Iran may be servicing Lebanon or Syria, etc - once again without bearing moral responsibility for our actions, just makin the BIG BUCKS.

The war machine oils itself with Blood, the blood of innocents, and we supply the fodder and nuclear tipped bunker and tank busters.

The MiddleEast is only a test field, far enough away to, at least in the old days, not affect OUR nation - but the closer we get to these actions the more we are drawn into them. The leaders of this country have no shame and there is less and less empathy coming from our citizenry.

I for one am not fooled, and am also at this stage of the the game Ashamed to be called an American - luckily most people in the world, as I travelled in the military overseas realized that it's NOT the PEOPLE of a Country, but the MONSTERS who've taken over the govt they should hate.

Kurt Vonnegut Jr has hit the nail on the head in hin latest Book, "A Man without a Country" (good read, don't miss it).

It's time to send these arms dealers to the Hague, along with BushCo, AND the MEDIA who kill for ratings.

WE are also an Occupied country, Occupied by Corporations who will kill us at the drop of a hat, and are only PRACTICING on the Fields of the MidEast. If what Jesus expounded upon is true then WE may be next (and in some cases we are already, like in the case of Mountain Top Removal in 4 states where they are literally drowning, smashing, exploding, killing our own citizens right here for nothing but coal profit, while BLOWING UP the Appalachains) - as Christ said, "How you treat the Least among you is how you treat me."

Bush started Killing Christ the minute he met him.

2. Good post
I realized that bit about selling weapons to other countries -- as a testing ground when I was a kid.

My dad would complain because Taiwan or some other country was getting such and such weapon -- or airplane. In fact they got the newer models -- often before the US Navy Air got the newest of newest.

As a Navy brat -- growing up on military bases until I left for college -- I've been surrounded with war machines and bombs etc. etc.

Yes send the arms dealers, Neocons, bush gang and the Media to the Hague -- let the WORLD deal with these bloody bastards.

You gotta realize about us military brats -- we were drafted -- and for those of us who grew up military -- it never ever leaves. I can pick military guys out of a line in a store -- not too hard since this is a heavy military area with lots of retired military. And I can pick out the crazy chicken hawks -- who claim to be vets. The ones that brag in a "certain" way.

I don't have a "from" -- as in where are you from -- except the Navy. I was born in a Navy hospital in a state that I've never lived in.

Bush is a killer -- born and bred.

Yes I am ashamed to be an American -- we can be so much better.

5. I know whereof you speak
Air Force brat right here.. remember the commeraderie of being a Base Kid? Living in a real neighborhood, but one that wasn't suburbs :)

I loved it, tho I think some of the kids were screwed up from moving around so much, lot of drinking going on too, more than most areas.. but it was great for learning about racism as well, or lack of it, since all the kids were of all races and it really didn't matter - we all just had a good time, and the parents were all respectful of each other. That's one thing I'm thankful for, growing up that way..

And I think in the end it all boils down to racism, all the genocide, the use of stereotypes to make us kill each other, so they can sell more bombs in the end.

If some of these Southern Christians saw who Jesus really was in real life (and I'm not a Christian per se), they'd shit their pants - because they might very well have been looking into a similar face as Bin Laden, at least by their silly eyes..

Christ wasn't from Mobile, Alabama. He was from a city they bombed just the other day.

A city that MANY religions WORSHIP, not that's the Irony in all this to me - the use of Christ while they all sell Bombs and death to each other,

Like a friend of mine once said to me, "If Christ came back now, he wouldn't be able to stop vomiting.."

Funny how humans kill the thing that's the most beautiful, like peaceful beings and children, and worship the most vile things in reality, like stupidity, money, false power like Hate.

I hope we wake up pretty soon - it may sound corny, but if we don't start Loving each other soon, we may all end up dead :)

6. Growing up on military bases -- yes the lack of racism
we all lived in the same neighborhoods (base housing) and went to the same schools (base schools).

I thought nothing of it.

I always went to multi racial schools -- and thought nothing of it. The only time I notice is when I am in a gathering of pure white folk. Oops it looks and sounds all wrong -- like what is wrong with this photo.

We also pick up military vibes -- I accurately predicted when the first Trident Sub would show up at Bangor Washington. It was on a Thursday -- so that the crew could use Friday to secure the boat and then have the weekend off.

But the biggest problem is not being from anywhere except . . . the military.

I cannot even imagine growing up civilian -- I've heard stories -- but still I cannot imagine it -- sort of like a foreign country. Or an individual born AFTER the 1960s -- writing a book about growing up in the 60s. Only those of us who grew up in the 60s KNOW what it was like growing up in the 60s.

4. You are completely right
I never go quite as far as saying I am ashamed to be American, but I am ashamed of who we have in power and the policies.

The bombing and looting will continue until-- I don't know when. Hopefully the PNAC'ers and dubya cultists will be enlightened, somehow, someway.
May lightning strike!
