John Kerry was in Charleston today
Speaking on health care...especially for children. The town meeting type gathering was held at the ILA hall.

By getting there early, I got to be right in the front row. Lots of good rhetoric, but I have to admit to being disappointed that he wouldn't let himself be pinned down on what his proposals would actually cost.

1. A billion dollars was appropriated for Medical Care for Illegal Immigrants
This money can go for the cost.

2. Bush is going to be in our Charleston in about a week.
To campaign for Shellie Moore Capito, who took money from the criminals involved in the GOP mega-scandals.

3. Is her daddy still in prison?
I realize that he might be dead ( I left WV in 1976) Have not really kept up with the political scene there.

5. Her daddy is on the loose.
He got to keep about 3 of the 4 million dollars he grabbed. He did three years for his three million he stole and got away with. The GOPers tried to get his law license reinstated, but the judge turned him down. The word was that Shellie had Bush working on getting Arch's license back, but it didn't work.

The state lost 240 million in the stock market when her daddy was Governor. Her sister and brother-in-law got busted for dealing coke and she took $30,000.00 in GOP dirty money from Washington and she's still the best that the GOP has to offer our state!

6. I believe the OP was referring to Charleston, SC
Some folks forget there's also a Charleston, WV, the state capital. I had to check the OP's profile to make sure to which Charleston they were referring.

7. Yeah, I should have specified.
But I didn't think anyone would credit a local of the Longshoreman's union in WV.

9. I thought the Longshoreman's union was also known as the Teamsters
In which case there most certainly is a local in Charleston, WV. But perhaps they are not the same union?

10. Nope, totally different unions
affiliated with the AFL/CIO and work with the Teamsters who deliver cargo to the ports but separate entities.

4. Health care costs change
If he says one figure now, and has to adjust it due to external inflation, he'll still be the one called a liar.

8. Pure numbers would be out of line
but percentages wouldn't. The plan sounds good, but it left some nagging...not doubts and not quite questions. I'm not sure how to explain the seed of dissatisfaction that plagues me.

12. HIf you recall, his healthcare plan offered in 2003 received the highest
rating out of all the plans submitted for review. His was the most doable.

He has also developed a Kid's First Healthcare legislation that he has been promoting for over a year, and that plan is very detailed, so you could probably get more detailed info there than from a general speech.

So far, the groundwork he's been laying on that has been state by state and taking it right to the districts - not sure when the Senate will be scheduling it for floor debate.
