2 girls found starving; have well-fed siblings
http://msnbc.msn.com/id/13988087/?GT1=8307

Two emaciated girls who told police they ate only when their father wasn’t traveling on business were hospitalized after police found them in an advanced state of starvation.

This woman deserves a savage beating that will never happen. Sorry, I know it's not a very progressive thing to say but I have such low regard for people like this.

1. Actually
I think it's a very progressive thing to say.

I've seen the results of abuse/neglect, and the parents need to pay.

2. She's obviously both evil and mentally ill
But what about the father?

He had to know what was happening. How could he not notice that his babies were starving? How could he keep leaving them with this monster?

4. She's evil whatever she claims to be is irrelevent...
I would just love to hear her justification for this. Hopefully these kids can recover and won't have any long term physical effects....the long term emotional effects will be enough.

6. There is no justification
not even if she was a victim of a stepmother in her childhood. This planet has so many evil people it's frightening.

7. Of course not...
and I hope that last post was claiming there was one. I merely would like to see how anyone could actively do that to children that she was supposed to care for.

9. that's where
they get him for failure to protect. It's as bad as actually committing the abuse.

5. I don't care what her story is--she's horrible.
My stepmom never starved me, but she sure as heck made sure that I didn't have it as good as her sons did. I wasn't supposed to eat anything after school or anything outside of meals, but I got really good at sneaking snacks. I had chores to do every week, but her sons had hardly anything to do. I'm still angry deep down at what life was like for me in that house.

Frankly, the father needs to lose all visitation and rights. He didn't defend his children and keep them safe, which is a major job for any parent. Disgusting.

8. Is the biological mother alive?
I didn't notice any mention of her.

But, obviously, these children should be freed for adoption by somebody who will love them.

10. I don't know about this particular state
but all states have time frames and "hoops" for the parents to jump through to see if they can regain their kids. Where I'm at, the limit for foster care is supposed to be 22 months before adoptions are pursued with the parental rights terminated, but unfortunately, it doesn't always happen that way.

The kids suffer not knowing where they will be, what they will go back to.

It's hell.

11. They didn't mention one, but that doesn't mean she isn't there.
More will come out, I'm sure. I would be horrified if this happened to my kids.

12. This is why we need government oversight
This conservative crap about keeping government out of our private lives only means keeping business from being controlled by the common man. It is also why we need to pay taxes for services...if the well to do pay more in taxes...so what the system allows them to get more out of the system anyway.
