This is just too weird. I also don't need anything to worry about. My hubby is in the hospital. I couldn't sleep and got up to take my mind off my bad dreams. Now I find out my DU status is all fucked up. Damnit. I guess I should go back to bed. :grr:

15. My hubby fell off a roof at work Friday
He cut his leg on the ladder on the way down. Really bad cut. So his dipshit boss told a co-worker to take him to the hospital. The guy took him and basically just dropped him off there. So hubby sat in the ER at the shittiest hospital in town most of the day waiting for them to sew his leg back together. After 5 hours, he finally called me because he realized he needed a ride to get back to his car. So I go racing down to the hospital and they are just getting ready to send him home. They gave him a card with a workman's comp phone number and a couple precsriptions. And we go home. They told him not to drive but he insists he is fine and makes me go take him to get his car. At this point he is more worried about the fucking car than his leg.

So I stupidly think he is okay and go out to dinner with a friend. I get home and he is sleeping. Then yesterday morning he gets up and tells me his leg hurts but he is okay and he has errands to run and goes out the door. I go and meet my friend (kiteinthewind) to go shopping and to lunch.

So kite and I are out shopping and my cell phone rings and it's my son. "Mom, I need you to come home RIGHT NOW because Dad is really sick" So kite and I race to my house and find my husband with a 103 fever and a red red red leg. kite is an RN. She looks at me and says "Urgent care ASAP" So we basically carry hubby to my car and race over to urgent care - only a few blocks from our house. Urgent care refuses to treat him because it is a work comp injury.

So I get this card out of wallet that they gave him at the ER the day before and call this number. It is the ER nurse and she has no idea where I can take him for treatment. So we go to the nearest ER. They look at his leg and ask "WHO stitched this up?"

Turns out he has a strep infection and is on IV antibiotics and morphine. They took the stitches out (that couldn't have felt good) and are letting it heal without them. They think he may need a skin graph.

And his boss? I called him and left a message yesterday when I was trying to figure out where to take him for treatment. He has not called back yet. So I finally took hubby's cell phone looking for other numbers, like maybe a guy he works with and found his boss's boss's numnber. We work for the same employer so I know all these people. I called the boss's boss and let him have it. He was of course very apologetic. But the leg is still all fucked up.

That's so dangerous!

Is he getting proper care now? It just makes you want to take a BRICK to a HEAD.

Ack.

20. He is at a better hospital
I am going to let him sleep and then go over there in a couple hours. I am still just livid that they let him sit at the ER and no one even called me! They all know me, know where I am and how to find me ASAP. We work for the same school district. I called my principal yesterday and she did more to help me than hubby's boss - who still - 12 hours later - has not called me back yet.

How fucking callous can you be?

I asked my boss if I fell off a roof would she stay with me till my family came to the ER. She said of course I would because it is DISTRICT POLICY. So now we know that not only is hubby's boss a dipshit he is also in trouble. My boss will definitely say something about this to the powers that be.

Both kite and I were wearing good progressive t-shirts and I was wearing my NO HUMAN BEING IS ILLEGAL button. We had some interesting conversations with a nurse. We were also very assertive. Get a couple peace activists on a problem and it gets solved. LOL

18. OMG!
It's a good thing you got him to the er! You have to get the paperwork rolling right away. The hospital should be able to treat him and there should be a work comp liason there to help you. We had battles with Fed WC when my hubby had a car accident a couple of years back.

(It sounds like you have grounds for a suit at that first hospital - document everything!)

22. The asshole repuke governor changed the workman's comp rules in MO
You now have to prove it was the employer's negligence that led to the injury. Hubby already said well I am fucked since it was my feet that made me fall. He was attacked by a swarm of wasps on that roof! And since the wasps don't work for the school district, he is probably fucked. LOL

28. It's like that all over the country.
I saw a story on Nightline about how these people in TX were not getting care and DYING because the system they had there was literally staffed by the insurance companies. Got into a conversation with the reporter and he said, "it's like this ALL over the country, not just this county in TX".

stressed out and very worried about him. If you don't mind I will send positive healing thoughts your way.

Also... please consider contacting a lawyer about this whole incident. Especially since this is a workman's comp case complicated by what may be a hospital's negligence you may very well need someone who knows the buttons to push to get your husband the care and coverage he needs.

edited for a dyslexic brain fart :hangover:

13. I wonder if the stars & membership thing is automatted? If so perhaps
there's a system glitch that's not renewing some folks.

I've been on many boards over the years and this one is certainly one of the most (if not the most) efficiently run ones I've ever run across. No matter what the reason I'm sure it will be taken care of soon. :)

one before. :)

Since you're a regular donor I'm sure it's just a mix up that will be fixed once Skinner and the guys know about it. B-) Meanwhile if you have Firefox you can turn the Google Ads off that way if they drive you nuts (as they do me). :)

My good friend evlbstrd (most of my good friends are DUers) is a Mac expert and he helped me find this laptop and loaded it wth a better OS than what it came with. He uses Safari. I like Firefox much better. I need to load it on here.

I also want my star back!! I alerted a mod but have heard nothing back yet. I thought about donating again but I want them to figure this out. I wonder how many others lost their stars?

your donor star shouldn't have expired.. well I wouldn't think so at least. All I can think of is that it must be a glitch in the system somewhere.

38. This may be sort of off topic...

... but my firewall puts up warnings and asks permission for certain domain numbers to access the internet via my Firefox when I am loading certain threads. I don't know if it is the servers from where the images come from or the ads. Of course, I hit the "block once" button as I do not know who is trying to get into my browser.

As I said, the only thing I could figure is that the servers holding the "vanity" images arent on the up and up.

Any ideas? I was going to post a thread asking about this, but didn't know what topic to file it under.
