7. Not sure, but it's not important to us. We live in town, not in a suburb, |
|
and use 12 gallons a week between the two cars.
We can walk or ride bicycles to the post office, library, stores, and so on.
I do indeed feel sorry for people who have to commute.

29. Lucky on purpose. We made the decision to buy a house in town |
|
on purpose. And made sure it was one from which we could walk to Main Street.
I now that this choice is not available to everyone. But if you have the chance, you should take it. Living in town is good for you, good for your town, and ultimately good for America.

Unfortunately, we're in the city and the cost of gas is really taking a toll. Between school and work, it's averaging approximately $200-250 a month....and sure to go up. :(

Not criticizing, just asking. Back when, living in the city reduced gasoline costs. Many city dwellers lived without cars at all. What has changed?

I know that you're not criticizing. :)

12 gallons is a full tank for me - appx. $36 to fill the tank - I probably average between 1 and 1 and 1/2 tanks per week depending how much I drive on the weekend...
so it's $36/week, say 5 tanks per month - $180/month as opposed to gas at $2/gallon - $24/per week, or $120/month - the increase is more than my electric bill.

KNOW it is higher elsewhere in the metro area. who the HELL did "they" think they were kidding the other day when "they" said that gas had gone over $3/gallon, an "all-time high"?? I remember a couple of years ago hearing about gas over $3/gallon in CA and elsewhere--and many of the prices quoted here are WAY above $3/gallon. administration does nothing BUT lie.

I had two rugrats strapped into the back seat and I commuted to clear $100 a week, life would have become impossible. And I always commuted. Where ever I lived, my job moved 50 miles in the opposite direction and there was no good mass transit.
For all of us, I hope some sanity just busts out soon.

Last week when I put some in I paid $1.47 a LITRE. I have no idea what it is this week, yet.
Some calculations: 1 Gallon = 4.55 Litres so for a gallon I would be paying $6.68 Australian or $5.03 USD.

We live basically in the middle of 3 small cities/villages near the border of northern NY & Canada. If we are driving a bit further through the NA Res (to see my daughter/granddaughter) it's about 5 to 10 cents cheaper, depending on how we hit it.
