37% Bush Approval = 5 POINT DROP IN ONE DAY - Rasmussen
July 25, 2006

Photo Courtesy of whitehouse.gov Thirty-seven percent (37%) of Americans approve of the way that President Bush is performing his job. That’s just the second time this month that his Approval has fallen below the 40% mark. It’s also the President’s lowest rating since mid-May. Just 26% of Americans share the President’s view that stem cell research is morally wrong.

1. Whoopsie....wheels falling off the wagon???
The Razzy poll has been way out there on the wrong end over the past few days. Maybe it was the spinner's day off and some truth finally found its way into this piece of crap poll.

So, if Razzy has him sinking like a ship, reality must be a real drag for Dim Son!

12. Actually, I would trust Rasmussen over most other polls
Whether we'd like to believe it or not, their polls were right on the money in 2004.

3. Media coverage
Any uptick in Chimpy's ratings-- and it's reported all over the place. I just went looking on some of the major sites for any word on this dramatic drop and came up empty handed.

Go figure!

4. Wow, and that's Rasmussen
Who polls heavy for Repubs. I can't wait for the CBS/ABC/Ipsos polls which are typically lower...

5. That stem cell veto is one big, heavy, nail in his coffin.
Here's hoping it sticks to his party like glue in November.

6. Could be an aberrant data point.
Looks almost like Rasmussen has changed their methodology. I know that Rasmussen polls are skewed by their disproportional choice of Republican respondents, but a four-point change in one day looks aberrant. I suspect that the next day's poll will be a couple of points UP.

I just don't have a lot of faith in their polling abilities.

7. Look at patterns, not individual days. Average 3 days of results.
Daily polls usually have a much smaller sample size and larger margin of error.

So, a 5 point swing might not be that meaningful. The important part is the long string of lousy numbers.

8. Yup
And don't lose sight of ho bad the numbers are (and have been) overall. People are being swayed, and they're changing.

11. This is signifigant. If Ras is saying that Bush is below 40% in...
his approval and above 60% in his disapproval, Bush is in trouble.

13. Blah, blah, blah. He's still here.
His polls can go down to zero and he's still here. Unimpeached. Still in power. Still capable of nuking Iran. Still making "signing statements". If Justice Stevens retires or dies in the next 2 years Bush will get ANOTHER opportunity to stack the Supreme Court even further to the right. He's still sneering at us all. I just can't get excited about low polls. Sure, I'd rather his polls be low than high, but practically, it doesn't mean much until Congress DOES something to stop him. I'm not holding my breath.
