Imagine for me a teflon Democrat |
|
I guess Bill Clinton is as close as we're ever going to get. Impeached, ridiculed by the mainstream media and slandered by the professional rightwing nutjobs at every turn, he never lost his popularity with the American people. Is there another one out there? Do we need to consider affability as the first sine qua non attribute for a Democratic presidential candidate, considering that the evil ones control the media as well as (for the moment) all three branches of government? Who would that next Clinton be? I'm thinking John Edwards is the best fit, as well as a good guy and good on the issues, but I would have no objection to being shown a better candidate. What are thoughts?

3. They were configured like this during Clinton's terms |
|
and he still maintained huge popularity. The media will always fan the hatred among the 20-30 million Limbeciles, but we have good candidates. See my post #2 for some others.

6. teflon to me implies Reagan, in which nothing of consequence |
|
ever happened to him
the media will never allow a democrat to emerge unscathed, the way Reagan did throughout his vile, treasonous presidential campaign, followed by his equally treasonous (and equally unreported-upon) regime
look what the media did to Dukakis
look what they tried to do to Clinton, from the first moments of his candidacy to the last moments of his presidency. only his immense personal charm, combined with the terminal fecklessness of Bush I (and Dole) allowed him to serve two terms in office.
the pugs honed their vicious skills during Clinton's administration, and the media followed the lead of the likes of Barbara Comstock during both the Gore and Kerry campaigns, ripping both men's character to shreds with obvious delight, while completely ignoring the craven, venal cowards against whom they ran
the media are so much worse than anybody realizes......

CNN wasn't completely gone during Clinton's term, they also had the daily briefing so Clinton's message at least got out there. Right now there's no message coming from the Dem side and no television pundit who gives the Dem side any respect at all.

Gore, Edwards, clark, and Boxer would all be immensely popular with everyone except the hate radio crowd.

4. Media tore Bill's teflon off after he left with the trashing of the WH lie |
|
and the over-reaction to the pardons.
His popularity took a dive that lasted for over 3 yrs, until his heart surgery and then his tsunami work.

5. Bill Clinton is still the "Big Kahuna" as far as I am concerned... |
|
...he gets my support anytime and as far as someone who could match him, there is no one in the party, although John Edwards would be closer. I think Bill Clinton is showing his support for Joe Lieberman mainly because Clinton is a political mender and wants the democratic party brought together for the good of the party and to ensure victory in the coming 2006 elections and the 2008 presidential election.
