I dare say that none of those 57,000+ had any desire "to die in a Southeast Asian rice paddy." And a good percentage of those on the wall had long learned that the war in Viet Nam was already lost. Just like the war in Iraq was lost before it was begun, thanks to Bolton and his ilk.
