Poll question: Poll: Will the US gov't ATTACK IRAN before 2007?
What are the chances of Seymour Hersh and others being right about a coming war with Iran? Is he right? Is he wrong? Or will Bush decide for us?

1. I would wager, not.

A good bet: If we don't invade, I collect. If we do invade, the end of the world will happen, and the bet won't matter any way.

on edit: I actually think Bush and company are picking up on the fact that Iran would be too difficult to take on. Saber-rattling might be employed for diplomatic purposes (buffalo our allies to supporting sanctions against Iran, e.g.) but it won't cross the line to open war. The closest we will come to open war is the war between our proxy Israel and Iran's proxy Hezbollah.

3. The Only Thing That Gives Me Pause Is the "before" 2007.
Bush is batshit crazy, so it wouldn't surprise me if he tried to do it before the midterms. But, that would undoubtedly be suicide for the Republicans. So, I don't know.

Nothing would suprise me. Was that an option in the poll?

7. Hmm, I didn't factor in things after 2007 started because I've been...
hearing the timeline being sometime this year, not after the elections or New Years.

It's quite possible we will be asking this question for the next several years.

8. Only the incredibly stupid would do so...oh, wait.
Considering the brilliant minds running the country....it's a distinct possibility.

"decision" by pResident Decider, on attacking Iran.

12. Hey I read that last Hersch article in the New Yorker
FASCINATING stuff. Basically I got that it's the Generals-yes you got it-some acutal brave souls in the Pentagon that are saving our asses from armageddon. Standing up to Rumsfeld and the hawks and the great decider. So far it's stopped it. What happens tommorrow is uncertain. This country is hosed if we go to war with Iran. And all but a few KNOW that. They are saying stop right there, cowboy.

I just cannot fathom how we have let the idiots run the world. I'm praying for the bravery of a few generals, that's all we've got.
