WH wants to EXPAND USE OF MILITARY TRIBUNALS to include
people like YOU and ME.

""A draft Bush administration plan for special military courts seeks to expand the reach and authority of such "commissions" to include trials, for the first time, of people who are not members of al-Qaeda or the Taliban and are not directly involved in acts of international terrorism, according to officials familiar with the proposal.

1. And Haliburton is building prison camps in the US desert.
That's already been posted here a few times. So they'll have someplace to put us too.

Their vision of the future is looking mighty dark.

2. Does this seem to be a bit unconstitutional to anybody else?
Not that it seems to matter much anymore.

3. The constitution is over until some political power
decides to defend it.

4. It's a broadening of martial law.
Now if they can just get rid of that obstructive Posse Commitatis stuff, Rumsfeld will have his department right where he has always wanted it.

6. When you combine stories like this one with
with stories like the whole gigantic mess that is Cofer Blacks' private army of mercenaries, BLACKWATER, you got a recipe for UGLY. There was a great 6 part series recently in the Virginian Pilot all about these thugs. It is bad, bad, bad news.

12. Let's hope there are still enough sane members of Congress to stop this.
If they vote to implement Bush's crazy plan for dictatorship...we need to take them out of office...Repubs and Dems alike. It's Congress' job to write bills, not the executive wing.

13. And the very fact that no one believes this could be possible
is what will give them the advantage to carry this out.

14. That's not all. The Secretary of Defense gets to decide, on a whim,
what crimes fall under the jurisdiction of his military tribunals. At least that's how I understood the article I read yesterday.
