Tax the Rich Republicans ! |
|
Why should our children have to pay for their free ride in our great country? They made their fortune from our system of government and now they want to let it die on the vine? Screw them! I say it's time they paid us back. All swell and good for their brains and ingenuity but it was our country that gave them the opportunity to become wealthy. If they wish to transfer all the debt to the children in the future and if they want to destroy Social Security because we "can't afford it", then I say screw them! Let's tax their greedy asses!

13. Rich Dems like Soros don't BITCH about paying taxes |
|
It's the Repukes who whine that they'll have to eat half the beluga caviar they're used to, why, as little as four pounds a day, to pay their share of taxes. What about the beluga caviar fishermen, huh? They'll go hungry without the rich scarfing down as much as they can eat.

17. There certainly are rich Dems, some of whom pretty much agree |
|
that their wealth increases their tax responsibilities, not decreases them.
It stands to reason that wealth, no matter what its political stripe, costs the system more to create than poverty does, ergo ALL wealth should be taxed appropriately, to pay the system back for what it cost the system to produce the wealth in the first place.

2. Most of them couldn't have made a dime without a lot of people |

living on minimum wage and less. If everyone was paid a fair, cost of living, wage, there would be a whole lot less rich people.
Wealth is subsidized by the Poor.

there would be no Capitalists without Labor (using the old terms for rich/poor).
I am so sick of the self-made BS. I know one person who was so poor the other kids in the trailer park were not allowed to play with him - he grew up in a non-permanent trailer with his mom and 5 brothers, and now he is a success and without much help from family, BUT he realizes he could not do it without SOCIETY and the benefits from that society, and he is about as staunch of a Liberal that I know. He knows where he came from and how he got where he is. Most of the so-called self-made people have no clue of all of the help they get.
I value hard work and trying to do the best you can, but no one lives in a vacuum.
amen!

15. "Most of the so-called self-made people have no clue of all of the help |

they get" . . . not to mention the important role that Luck plays.
I agree, hard work is valuable, but a lot of work is made a whole lot less hard by Luck more than anything else.

18. definitely. I would say most of the good jobs I've gotten |
|
have been a combination of luck ("good timing") and knowing people, which can also be luck if you think about it - luck that you met someone, or that they remembered what you do, etc.
I still had to be qualified, but just to get my foot in the door for an interview, it's back to the "network." It's funny because the old boy network halfway acknowledges this, but a lot of them like to see themselves as "self-made."
Then there are the race, gender, and class issues which further help/hinder.
