What difference has the 50 State Strategy made for you? |
|
What's different this year as compared to, say, 2004? What activities have you seen in your county, district or state that you can point to and say "That's Gov. Dean's plan in action"?

2. There were Dem candidates on the ballot this year, where in |
|
2000 and 2004 there were NONE! I have been screaming about this ever since!
We moved to Ga in 2000, and I was astounded that almost all the Pug incumbants had NO opposition!
This year, there was an opponent in 98% of the spots on the primary ballot!
I don't know if any will really oust any Pubs, but for God sake, if nobody tries, there's no chance at all!!!!
Thank you Howard!!!!!!!

I lived in a county in which our local Democratic Party was virtually disbanded in the mid-90's. For almost ten years..those who were active Democrats either became Republicans or had no place close to go. But now we have a local party again, and it meets once a month at the public library!
This time the county Democratic Party isn't an organization in which conservatives could speak but liberals were expected to keep quiet, but a place for all who are sick of a one-party system can finally have a voice!

6. They used to say about our county Dems that we could meet in a |
|
phonebooth.
They don't say that anymore. I think having a Dem become mayor in the biggest city in the county stopped that cold.

3. We have 4 new advisors here |
|
And a County Chairman who believes in being agressive. And a Democratic Mayor smack dab in the middle of Sensenbrenner's district, the largest city in his district, actually.
My advisor has also been involved in training and has taken over jobs that would have been done by various others, like organizing our volunteers for the Dem booth at the State Fair. It's nice to have someone to call.

8. I'm giving it a kick for those who had to work today and couldn't |
|
see the original post!
I really am happy that a decent size county in GA. has a Dem presence! They sure didn't when I moved here in 2000!
I don't know that we'll win in Nov. for sure, but we have a decent chance!
When you don't run any candidates, you have no chance at all!
Thank you Howard!!!!!

9. I'm just wondering who I have to sleep with to get more responses |

to a positive thread that seeks to celebrate Dean and his plan.
Surely there have been some benefits. A Democratic Reunion meeting or two. More money where needed. More advisers.
It seems like we'd rather argue than work to get Dems elected in 2006 or see the good things that might be happening in our local parties. It's quite frustrating.
On edit: Thanks for the kick, btw. Much obliged.

11. So the 50 state strategy has made no difference |

and Governor Dean should just fuck off and go away, as he is wasting his time? Is that what I am to conclude by the non-responses here?
What if this was a thread about Governor Dean saying something controvercial. Would that help? Maybe I could rag on the DLC. That always gets a hearty response. Oooh, oooh, I could point fingers at the Green Party! Or Ralph Nader. That's worth 100 responses at least! Oh, hey, I could pick a Cindy and just start wailing on them. That would get responses alright. Woo hoo.
So has Gov. Dean been wasting his time or not? Is anything getting done? Or aren't people much into lights at the end of tunnels and such? Not into celebrating positive action? Would rather tear each other apart than bring something together?
Fuck me. If that's the case, I fear for Nov.
