And I've noticed a lack of party affiliations on quite a few billboards as well. I would have figured Tulsa would have been safe for them.

2. In Washington, it is required by law |
|
But then, I'm starting to learn that Washington's PITA disclosure laws are a wonderful thing.

3. They are not doing it in my town either |

Predominately Republican County and many of the signs do not have "R" on them. The Democrats have left theirs off forever

4. I live close enough to get Oklahoma stations... |

and I saw a commercial for someone basically bragging about how conservative he is.
Isn't that political suicide in this political climate?

Conservatives have not died. It is just many conservatives don't agree with the neo-con ideas today. But put a liberal up against a neo-con and all the Republicans will vote for the neo-con in order to keep the liberal out of power.
A neo-conservative is not a conservative....not even close.

Down here in the OKC metro, the yard signs rarely have either party affiliation listed. Before I voted in the primary, I wasn't sure who was running as a dem for 5th district congress...not that it matters that much since the regressives have had a lock on that seat for decades.

11. Welcome to Du, it is always nice to see a fellow Oklahoman here |
|
at the local level there is no reason for a repuke to even run as he has no chance but at the state or federal level the opposite is true pretty much.

6. It has been going on in local elections for years. |
|
Drives me nuts and I had a yelling fight with one guy that came around for my vote once. They all say the same thing also. They will do more for me plus cut my tax.

7. That's true here in TN too. |
|
Even their websites don't list a party affiliation.

one could always assume they were ALL Republican. That's starting to change now, though. We actually have someone trying to unseat MarshaMarshaMarsha Blackburn! GO BILL MORRISON!

I think the state is bluer than most people think it is. And hopefully getting bluer everyday. :)

8. It isn't required in some states and many candidates don't do it |
|
They think putting the party affiliation on their campaign material will alienate voters of the other party.
The strategy works best in moderate areas...

12. Sometimes they give themselves away. |

My husband just got his renewal notice for his business license, and in it is a little "note" from the new tax collector - the old one retired. He introduces himself and gives a little background on himself and states he was APPOINTED by Jeb Bush. HA! I saved his little "campaign" note that he used taxpayers money to distribute so that I will remember he is a Bush appointee and be sure to not vote for him and let others know who he is.

13. Here, either, in central OK. (OKC/Moore area). |
|
Except for Randy Terrill, the state rep for my district. He's actually not TOO terrible, for a Rethug. But I still had to laugh at all the signs around, especially the ones all grouped together: his was the only one that had the word "Republican" printed on it.
On the other hand, the TV ads are over the top. Seems like everyone's competing to be the most god-fearing, gay-hating, abortion-banning candidate.
