I liked this local (Oregon) blogger's thoughts on the Lamont candidacy and the democratic party. Just two punchy paragraphs.

It's D-Day for Joe Lieberman. As of this morning he's cut into Ned Lamont's lead, but the deficit is still outside the margin of error. I'm guessing Ned will win by somewhere between 3 and 5 points. The real test is in November. Joe and his Republican friends are hanging their hats on the fact Connecticut has a plurality of independent voters who will come to Joe's rescue. Not so fast. As of July 23rd, one poll has Lamont and Lieberman in a dead-heat at 40%. As the dollars begin flowing hot and heavy, look for that to stay pretty consistent. If that's so, look for HEAVY Republican pressure on Alan Schlesinger to drop out and endorse Lieberman. The problem with that, of course, is Schlesinger voters aren't Lieberman supporters. They're much more hardcore than that and will stay home rather than vote for Joe. Oh! this is gonna be a MESS! And I can't wait.

You're gonna hear a lot about the hijacking of the Democratic party by left-wing bloggers and other long-haired, maggot-infested, free-loving, dope-smoking FM types. What you're seeing in the Democratic party right now is no different than what we saw in the Republicans a generation ago. A significant block of voters has had enough of being ignored by their leaders and have taken matters into their own hands. Like the Christian Right, the Left has had enough of their leaders reaching across the aisle to make deals only to be mocked and turned into lap dogs. Like Lieberman. It's time to end the charade. The Right wants a fight over ideas? It's time to give them one. And it begins today.
