Is it just me or did it seem like CNN was reluctant to announce Joe's |
|
loss last night? During commercials, I kept checking CNN to see if there were results in the CT race last night. When there finally were results, they briefly mentioned the Lamont/Lieberman contest & then quickly moved on to McKinney where they had footage to go along with their 30-45 second talk about how she got trounced. Ok, they didn't use the word trounce, but their feature had a gleeful tone to it. :eyes:
I am sooooooooo, sooooooooo, soooooooooo sick of the frickin' corporate media. :puke:

5. JOE was reluctant to announce Joe's loss last night |
|
I think that was the main problem. He didn't concede until over 95% of the vote was in, if my viewpoint from out here in NM is accurate.
I really don't think he expected to lose. I can even feel a little sorry for him today.
However, he can expect a steady stream of pure venom from my keyboard if he makes good on his threat to try to split the Dem vote and put a pubbie in office.
The MSM is something else. From what I've been reading, we're all wild eyed extremists and bomb throwers for defeating such a fine moderate, the only moderate voice in the Democratic party.
No wonder I turned those parasites off 2 years ago.

6. I had to laugh @ CNN too |
|
At midnight this was their coverage.
"In CT 3 term senator Joe Lieberman could not pull off the upset."
bush & company would not be able to keep power without the corporate media's help. Don't forget 11/3/04 @ about 1:30 AM CNN switched the exit polls and put up a new poll that was "blended," in other words part exit poll and part vote.

8. I don't know about that |

But the coverage overall was shameful last night. And dare I say it -- FOX actually had the best coverage of the elections (at least the one in Connecticut).
I was flipping back and forth between the big three channels to see if they were covering it, and at 11:00PM when the results were almost all in, NONE of them were. FOX was showing an O'Reilly repeat. MSNBC were showing those idiotic taped news documentary shows. And I can't even recall what was on CNN, but it wasn't the elections. Probably another story about what was going on in Lebanon, they were showing that most of the night anyway.
I checked CSPAN, and they were a little better, but there were focusing in more on what Republican callers thought about the election more than the election itself. At least they carried the Lieberman speech live, though. FOX and CNN eventually cut in during the middle of it, and I'm not sure MSNBC had anything more than a BREAKING NEWS banner across the bottom while they continued to show a documentary about druggies in Portland or someplace.
Pretty pathetic all around. The internet provided far better coverage than any of the news stations, even though I guess that's not that big of a surprise.

9. "Ya Know...I Really Like The Guy" |
|
:puke:
This is like losing a superstar to these goons. Joe's become a "sellable" comodity...it all began when he lambasted Clinton and has played "media darling" since. Joe's a regular on the drinkie-drinkie beltway circuit and his "bretheren" got pissed when someone starting picking on one of their own. Joe was Joe..."the maverick", the "man who reached across the aisle"...all Rovian discriptions that Joe believes...rather than being the appeaser he really is.
McKinney, on the other hand...was an uppity...uh uh uh...well you know. She didn't do the drinkie-drinkie parties...she was outrageous, but as a target, not as a "sellable" comodity. While you could depend on Joe to come on a talk show and push the "Democrats are divided" meme...all they could do with McKinney is frame her as a crazy...uh uh uh...well you know. One network even claimed McKinney's challenger was a "Moderate Repugnican". Yep, that crazy...uh uh uh...well you know...had to go.
I'm so tired of hearing all these commentators say "I really like the guy" or how what a wonderful and fun guy he is. Elections aren't or shouldn't be a popularity/beauty contest...and kudos to the folks in Connecticut for proving that point lat night.
Let the corporate media spew...it didn't help Joementum win yesterday and is as much a kiss of death on a candidate these days as it is a plus.
