I really hope Bush* does offer Joe the Defense Secretary position
It would be good for the country and even better for the Democrats. Rummy would be out of there and Holy Joe wouldn't be in the position of splitting the Democrats due to loyalty or whatever. I believe he still holds a few Democratic principles though he has covered them up well but he still would have an ear for some of our Democratic leaders which Rummy has absolutely zero. Let's push for Joe to get that job...

2. he now won't be offered the job till after nov, though, I don't think
I previously predicted he would be offered it immediately after the election IF he didn't run as independent, which I thought was the deal brokered behind closed doors. Obviously, either I was wrong, or HolyJoe renegged on the deal.
Now, there's no advantage to pulling him into the pentagon until after he loses again in Nov. The repugs would like him to split the vote in nov.
In their minds, anyways, his split will mean a repug victory.

I think they might be unpleasantly surprised, though. The only people who would like him to run independent is the 27% diehard bush base, and THEY"RE going to be voting repub.

6. exactly.
they might offer it after Nov. By then, Israel will be in phase 14 of deciding whether pedestrians walking to their homes are valid targets for airstrikes and Condi and Georgie will still be spinning this as a "defensive" action.

Joe would be perfect for AIPAC and Israel.

4. I think he should make Joe the Ultimate Fighting Champion
That would show Bush's real clout.

And of course, it would be fun to watch Joe defend his title. I'd pay to see that.

5. Joe will only be offered the position if he wins in November
and Bush's cronies have the opportunity to install their choice for the Senate ...

If either other candidate wins, Lamont or "That Republican Guy", Joe will be seeing the back hand of Bush and company ...

At least Clinton gave a consolation prize to Dole after 1996 ...

7. I'd love to see him have that clusterfuck to deal with
He sang for it, he wanted it, he promoted it, and now, he has to make it work.

His new nickname would be Colonel Klink.
