I just made google my home page - switching from yahoo. I did this explicitly to protest Yahoo's decision to provide search information to the government, and to support Google's refusal to do the same.
Both Google and Yahoo derive add revenue directly from hit counts, and home page settings have a large impact on that hit count. Let Yahoo know exactly what the consequences of not protecting our privacy are.

1. Be careful, the gov't is trying to get Google's search records |
|
If successful, the gov't will be able to detect what you are searcing for.
And you can opt out of Yahoo's tracker to boot (though it's not easy to do). Though, if the gov is trying to get Googles stuff, they're probably going to do the same for every search site.
Ok, we're screwed...

4. If the gov't wants it bad enough, they're going to get it |
|
Don't be fooled by thinking that going to another search engine is going to be any safer. Yahoo & Google may be the most visible, but if the gov't is intent on getting internet records, they will. And since when has a court order stopped BushCo?

6. It is not a question of being safer. |
|
A boycott here is not about avoiding the prying eyes of our fascist nanny-state. It is about sending a direct pocket book message to Yahoo MSN and AOL: stop complying or suffer the consequences. It is about fighting against the bastards rather than just giving in. It is about sending another message to Google: way to go, we got your back!

7. I try to do all the searching I can |

from the library and not a home computer. It makes it all the more difficult for the Stasi fuckers to find any info on you.

"Yahoo's decision to provide search information to the government,"
I'd heard about Google but not about Yahoo. I'll change the search engine I use, too.
