Let us demand that Congress takes back some of our airwaves |
|
and return them to the use of the people. They sold the airwaves to the cable and satellite industries. We should demand that they take back one, two or 3 (I don't really understand the mechanics of this so help me out). Dedicate one channel each to federal parties. Or perhaps, one could be for federal candidates to campaign on, and one can be for state or local candidates and can be given over to those levels of government at some time. Fund it with taxpayer monies, allow no advertising. Use it for town halls, forums, debates, etc. Suck the money out of the private system.
Is this a worthwhile suggestion?

I ran a small wireless ISP for a while, the #1 issue i had was lack of frequency i could use. It would have been a life saver if i could have just licensed 12mhz of unused TV bandwidth (you know, some of the channels in the 40-58 range that are almost always empty!?) I would have been able to grow without some a-hole coming in and jamming my channels causing me to loose customers... instead of setting them up on a system for business to license them as needed, like general mobile radio service, so a small business could get them, they auctioned them off for billions to big corps who are sitting on them and wont let anyone else have them..
