Dems Need to Promise: "We will investigate and get to the bottom of this.. |
|
...If you want to know why fuel oil and gas prices have gone so high, ...If you want to know what prewar intelligence this Administration had about WMDs, .... then vote Democratic in the next election. WE will use the power of the subpoena to make people testify UNDER OATH about their role, what they knew and what they did. We will pull back the veil of secrecy that has been placed over the peoples' government, and make government accountable to the people once again. If you really want your questions answered, and want a change in the way things have been done, vote Democratic."
This needs to be the response every time Republicans charge that Democrats will investigate and impeach Bush if they regain majority control n the next election.
Do not shirk the charge, confirm it. The people are ready for a change, they want someone who will stand up rather than pretend to be milder version of what we already have.
ANd send a copy to Karl Rove with the note --"Bring it on."

I agree heartily that more Democrats must trust the CITIZENS with the real information they need to participate more wisely AS citizens.
I no longer trust any Democrat who closes the books for BushInc.

2. Open transparent govt is to democracy, as secrecy is to dictatorships |
|
If our government is ever going to be held accountable to the people it governs, we need to restore "open government" practices that true democracy requires. All of this secrecy is being sold under the guise that "our government" is like the wise parent who explains the decision questioned by saying "because I said so" and no further explanation. There really is no place for such in a true democracy.
