LAX swarming with extra security- fighter planes in formation overhead.
:scared:
Just got home from taking my daughter to catch
a plane back to Chicago for her second semester.
LAX had more cops than I've seen in one place
in this town for years.
Extra tightened security measures are clearly in place-
I suppose due to the latest "tape."

When I got home just now, there were four fighter
jets flying in formation over our house, I would guess
from Twenty-nine Palms?

It's all creeping me out.
Anyone else in Los Angeles noticing
the increased police presence?

I saw a ton of them on the freeways too
and I can't remember the last time I saw
a policeman on a freeway here.

Do you suppose it is all just to
scare the sheeples or do they know
something we don't?
:scared:
I hate feeling like this.
I have a sick feeling in my stomach
and it pisses me off because I don't know
if it is intuitive or just BFEE induced paranoia.
I do think they are looking for their
excuse to go after Iran and I put nothing past them

7. Good question- I'd feel better if so.
We know they won't let anything happen if
one of the elite is coming to town.
Otherwise, we are on our own, of that I
would be "New Orleans" certain.
I REALLY would not want to be in LA in a crisis.
It's bad enough here on a normal day.

Then again, weren't there exercises going on that day in Sept?

I agree with you, nothing is beyond the PNAC Junta. They will do what ever they think will save their asses and advance their agenda. They don't like democracy one bit and don't care about people's lives.

The military planes are another matter-
They are LOUD, especially when in formation.
I think I am just really creeped out by all the
drum banging on Iran, and LAX was downright
sci-fi in the security today.

9. Just pro-active paranoia
The news yesterday said they would be stepping up security... Ignore it.. There's nothing you can do, so just tune it out..

I don;t know how old you are, but I was a kid during the Missile Crisis and the Cold war, and it gets tedious to expect nuclear war every day.. You just have to put it out of your mind and live your life.

What will be, will be, and there's no reason to lose sleep over it. You have no control over it and as a few out of 300 million people here, your odds are good that nothing will happen :)

15. LAX increased security after "Bin Laden tapes" released

Cheney on Bin Laden's "truce" offer: " ... destroy them"
By Lara Jakes Jordan
The Associated Press

WASHINGTON – Rejecting a suggestion by Osama bin Laden of a negotiated truce in the war on terror, Vice President Dick Cheney said there was only one way to deal with terrorists. "I think you have to destroy them," Cheney said.

The vague offer of a truce — coupled with a threat of another attack on the U.S. — was made in an audiotape released by the Arab television network Al-Jazeera. It brought new attention to the al-Qaida leader after a yearlong lull in his public statements.

U.S. security officials said Thursday there were currently no plans to raise the nation's security threat level because of the new tape.

In Los Angeles, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said city police deployed additional resources at their airport and "posted signage indicating that bomb sniffing dogs and searches will occur frequently." He described the measures as precautionary."

I thought the extra security was because of the tape but it's already gone today. It was for CHENEY. I doubt yours is due to the tape either. They know it's BS. Note they have not raised the threat level.

39.  "I don't know if it is intuitive or just BFEE induced paranioa"...
Careful of this. That BFEE induced paranioa is affecting us more than most people realize. While we all have very good reasons to feel this way some of us are actually experiencing PTSD over this. In fact MANY of us are. I have even sought therapy for it and all the BFEE associated problems (i.e. financial, emotional, health, etc. etc)that have plagued me and my family since this administration orchestrated it's takeover in 2000.

I am learning to let some of this shit roll off but it really isn't easy. A lot of people have gone to unqualified doctors and gotten themselves on medication that can have serious ill effects on their psyche without realizing that they are suffering from a form of PTSD and it is related to the events of 911 and everything that has happened since then.

We all think it's just the sheeple that have been affcted by this shit but I know I have become suspicious of all sorts of things that have gone on since then. I got to the point that anytime I saw a fighter jet (I live close enough to NORAD and the Air Force Acadamy to see my fair share)it would set me to wondering.

I don't mean to lecture or minimize your concerns but I worry about the effect this is all having on us now. I guess I've replaced one fear with another but this administration is REALLY very good at psychological warfare and whether you realize it or not we are all being affected, no matter what side you're on!

47. To call this paranoia is to be naive.
We visited Japan over the Holidays, and went through LAX. While I saw a great deal of security, I did not see military aircraft. I suggest that their presence is a way of reinforcing the General Fear that works so well at keeping the freeper base in line. We are not fooled, nor do we need to be.

Occasionally I will see a military helicopter over the Santa Clarita Valley, but not fighters. I will sometimes hear the rumble coming over the hills at night, but I have not noticed anything unusual lately. That's not to say that what you witnessed is not unusual.

Cops on freeways. I notice them. I often see a cop or two on the freeways I travel daily. Also, I have seen occasional increases in patrols. I have even seen several times now cruisers lined up idling five in a row next to the entrance ramp at a certain location of the 14, staged to swoop into traffic to take down a speeder. Since all they have to do is enter the freeway and flag someone who is traveling with the pack at 10+ over, it's easy money for them. I had never seen that prior to 2005, and I've been out here since late 1996. Remember that the burden for funds is pushed onto the states now, so certainly the local police and the Highway patrol will be enlisted to bring in the money.

Yes, be vigilant. They are not yet in a position to close it all down, but don't be complacent (This is a general comment, I know that you personally are not complacent!).

Can you use one of these?

50. Strange after so long...
Edited on Fri Jan-20-06 08:03 PM by BeHereNow
Hubby and I are constantly bitching about the
fact that there are never any cops on the freeways
anymore. Now, all of a sudden, they are everywhere.

We get so angry at the people who are going 90
miles an hour, switching lanes, not using turn signals
and in general, creating a hazard for everyone else.
We are always saying, "Where is the CHP?
We haven't seen any cops on the freeways we use
in a LONG time. We chalked it up to state budget
cuts- totally plausible when you add the
condition of the roads lately. Arizona has nothing
on us with the Grand Canyon. We have Grand Canyons
all over the 5...
Where DOES our tax money go?
The schools are falling to shit, the roads
are falling to shit and forget about
health care in this state or any other for that
matter.
