I cringe every time I hear an Air America host or news announcer |
|
use the P word (pResident) to refer to Bu*h. They should know better, and should be more considerate.
It really pisses me off every time I hear anyone on AAR, or anyone for that matter, say it.
I was wondering if this bothered other DUers also.
So, if anyone at Air America Radio is reading this, please stop using the "P" word when referring to Bu*h.
Many, (maybe most) of us do not recognize this ignorant, evil fraud as our Commander-in-Chief. He stole an election, and is not worthy of the title nor the respect this title would command if he were a legitimately elected COC.
I don't think I've ever heard Mike Malloy say it, and I really appreciate this. But Jerry Springer, Al Franken, and even Randi says it - as do all the newscasters. It is simply not appropriate.
So AAR folks, please, make it a policy to never use the "P" word in conjuction with monkeyboy's name anymore, or use it to refer to the monkeyboy.
If you had any idea of how offensive this is to so many of us that believe in genuine democracy, I'm sure you would not do it.
Thanks.

Grow up and face the facts. The son-of-a-bitch IS the president. It's up to us to CHANGE that, and prevent anything like it from ever happening again. But not recognizing reality only diminishes our ability to address real problems effectively.

The announcers at Air America are doing the right thing. If they were to make an issue of this and were to make it known that they do not consider him president it would bring down a world of grief on their heads. They all consider the 2000 election fraudulent. Randi Rhodes is the most virulent about 2004. It's not that I disagree with them. It's just that the focus should be about elections in 2006. We stand a good chance of taking back the House and at least shrinking the Repub lead in the Senate. It would be foolish to hand the right anything they could use. My advice: Cringe and bear it.

13. Yeah why on earth should we allow stolen elections to bother us? |
|
We need to grow up and get over it. Move along. Nothing to see here. Pay no attention to how the people of Mexico are dealing with a similar problem, or how the people of the Ukraine reacted when their rulers pulled similar nonsense. So what if Rush Limbaugh announced the elapsed day of America Held Hostage to millions of viewers for the entire Clinton administration, to great effect? As always we Democrats are above such foolishness. We've kept our powder dry for when we really need it, that's the important thing.

10. WIMPS! Face up to your problem...President Bush! |
|
You're playing a "political correctness" game. It undoubtedly makes you feel all better that you don't give Bush that satisfaction. But in effect, you are dodging reality.
Bush IS the President. This is an ugly fact, like "You ARE an alcoholic" or "You HAVE killed someone." You don't change uncomfortable facts through denial.
Haven't you ever heard of the twelve steps? The first is "Admit that you have a problem." We have a problem. Even if you didn't vote for Bush, he is still your problem. You can't wish him away by denying that he exists, or that he has done terrible things.
So please quit acting like a bunch of junior high school girls trying to shun an unpopular girl by calling her Ugly Betty. Step up, accept your shame, and start doing something to make up for it.

12. There's a difference here. |
|
I couldn't stand Nixon, Reagan, or Poppy either. But they were legally elected Presidents of the United States, for the better or worse of it. And of course it was worse. But it was, unfortunately, the will of the majority of those who showed up to vote.
Chimpy does NOT meet this criteria because he was NOT elected. He was handed the office in 2000 by 5 Bush Crime Family appointed justices on the Supreme Court. And a criminal in Ohio (who must be stopped this year) handed him a stolen election in 2004.
He has never, nor will ever, be the legitimate president. And I will never refer to him as such.

15. I will never call him President |
|
because he did not earn, nor does he deserve, that title. And it bothers me, too, when progressives give him a level of respect and legitimacy by referring to him that way. I cringe when I hear Amy Goodman on DemocracyNow (whom I adore and consider to be a true patriot and incredible human being) use that title when speaking of him. I want her to just call him Bush, but she's so public and committed to bringing us real information that we need to know in an increasingly oppressive and dangerous political environment that I guess she has to walk a finer and finer line.
But he it not my president, I don't care what office he literally occupies. He's a fraud and a pretender, an evil puppet with no conscience who, with his handlers, is fucking up my world and my grandbabies' futures. I have never hated anyone so much.

19. The difference between AAR and the OP's viewpoint |
|
as well as that of many at DU is that AAR wishes to be considered a legitimate media outlet and not some blog-like entity cloaked in anonymity. Regardless of political beliefs, legitimacy is not gained through use of euphemisms like "the resident" during a news broadcast.

20. "George Bu*h", or "Mr. Bu*h", would work also, convey that aura |
|
of media legitimacy some seem to need, and yet have the added benefit of actually not being mis-statements.
There is no compelling reason to refer to the man as a President just because he was illegally appointed to the position.
In fact, IMO, the opposite is true.

22. Regardless of what anyone thinks of either election |
|
he was sworn into the office twice and he holds the office — extremely poorly and to our great dismay, but he does hold it. And "President" need only be used on first reference. After that, "Mr. Bush," "Bush" or "The president" are acceptable. (It's capped only when using the title with the name.)
Legitimate journalists must do many things they find distasteful. Among these, often rather highly, is to afford basic respect and courtesy to those undeserving of it except by title. It's part of the business.

21. I cringe even more when I hear them or any Democrat |
|
refer to Gore and/or Kerry as having "lost" their elections. It makes me wonder how much more brazen the Republicans will get when they try and steal them in 2006 and 2008 - and just how obvious will they have to get before the Democrats stop accepting it as a loss?

I'm quite serious about this, too.
