Yesterday on CNN, saw a segment called "Houston Backlash" where |
|
Houstonians want Hurricane Katrina refugees to leave town. According to them, the Katrina refugees are responsible for a spike in crime.
I have one question: Did it ever occur to the Houstonians that Hurricane Katrina could have hit them?

3. Yeah, bash Houston. Nice. |
|
Not to burst your bubblr but if you don't live here you have no idea.
Why no $$$ from the Fed?FEMA?DHS? to pay for more police, services, etc.?
THAT would have helped.

4. Houston is in Texas, right? |
|
* is from Texas, right?
According to some, that makes them all guilty by association.
Stupid? Shallow? Yes.
I'm sorry you have to deal with whatever you're dealing with down there.

6. The Kat victims have been ABANDONED by this "government" |
|
and Htown has & continues to be very, very generous. But this is, predictably, straining every system we have...and there's no $ forthcoming.
Every city in TX welcomed Kat victims with open arms, except our Capital, Austin. Reep Governor, you know?

7. They have been floating that for a few days now |
|
at first it was said that the same is true in Atlanta, until our mayor went on tv to report that actually crime has DIMINISHED since the evacuees came here.
One word of note: Houston was a particularly violent city before the refugees went there.

8. Oh how far America has fallen... Our own citizens referred as "refugees" |
|
Language has been raped to the point that people don't even understand that words have very specific meanings.
Look up the definition for refugee, and tell me if American citizens fit that bill...
American Heritage Dictionary ref·u·gee n. One who flees in search of refuge, as in times of war, political oppression, or religious persecution.
Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.0.1) ref‧u‧gee –noun 1. a person who flees for refuge or safety, esp. to a foreign country, as in time of political upheaval, war, etc. 2. political refugee.
Does that fit the bill of our citizens that just lived through the worst natural disaster in decades?
