Tell me there isn't another big attack coming. |
|
Please. I want to hear it. I want to hear why we will probably not have another horrific attack like cheney says we most certainly will.
Tell me why that just ain't gonna happen, I know some of you will tell me, you have before, I just want to hear it again, I sincerely do.

They said it a million times before that and it didn't happen...
It ISN'T going to happen. It's the fear, fear, fear factor they like to stoke before election day.
And, besides that, Live Free Or Die. :hi:

on them. They are saying they are keeping us safer because of their policies. To have another attack on their watch would show that they weren't keeping us safer.
Of course - Cheney would probably would show his face and say - "See I told you so" - but bottom line it would prove that all they claim they are doing by supporting this whole Iraq thing with 'men and money' would show that it doesn't work.
No - I think all that is left that they can do is pull the Osama card.
Notice a lot of comments lately about Osama. A couple of news specials - remember CNN's debacle a week or two ago.
My suspicions then as they are now is that before the Nov. elections they are going to spring on us that they caught Osama.
And then it will be "Osama in the highest" that we will be hearing from these criminals.

... the Dems should scream loudly that giving up all our constutitional protections, giving the Bush** administration basically everything it asked for STILL did not protect us.
Really, IMHO if there is another serious attack on Bush**'s watch, they are DONE with fooling Americans with their "National Security" card.

but unfortunately, I fear the opposite. The republicans are cornered like a wounded bear, and the crying of wolf is not helping them as much as it used to. They're going to have to actually produce a wolf. and the problem there is, all it takes is one more 9/11 -like attack and we're tipped over into martial law and elections become irrelevant.

My feeling is they will give in to several of the publics' demands. Then wham, we asked for it!
Chaos again! (a blame the victim scenario)
This will be the jumping off point to declare Martial Law.
Gebus, I can hear Bush now making a public service announcement.(a fictitious rendering)
"We are instructing everyone to stay in their homes for the next 24 hrs. Anyone seen walking on the streets will be detained by local law enforcement."
"Please stay tuned to your local tv stations for further updates."
The first to go will be rounding up the homeless.
A loop of Bush will be on the tele 24/7 repeating the same message over and over again. Reassuring the masses, everything is OK...(Nothing else will be televised except Bushes message.)
When they finally change the loop, instead of things getting resolved, they'll want to do a head count. We'll have to report somewhere, be ID tagged and carry a card identifying our affiliations, job code, etc.
Realize this..The Republican neocons are trapped and they know we know it..
When animals are cornered, they will try to hurt you. Get a tiny squirrel cornered and he'll go for your throat.
Hopefully, this won't happen...I'm counting on the Secret Service to protect the people from a government gone rogue- God Help Us, if they fail to protect us from this insanity!

25. From what I understand... |
|
in a nutshell, is that Obrador is categorically not accepting the court's decision to let the election of Calderon stand.
His supporters have talked of continued civil disruption and of preventing Calderon's inauguration. Of course, if this is successful Obrador will have to be ready to step in.
One can only speculate, but if Obrador's support continues to be large and widespread, this could conceivably lead to a civil war.

simply because the people who planned the last one (and don't kid yourselves, it really was planned and carried out by a bunch of fanatical muslims most of whom were from Saudi Arabia) simply don't have the resources to plan another one. It is distantly possible that some in our administration had some kind of a clue that something was going to happen, but they are not the ones who planned and carried it out.
About noon on September 11, 2001, an hour or so after the fourth plane had crashed (flight 93) and it was clear there were no other hijacked planes out there, I said, This is it. They've shot their wad and it's all over. The Bush regime seized upon what happened as a lovely opportunity to rush into place an attempt to eliminate many of our constitutional protections, and have spent a lot of time since then convincing us that we should be afraid, very afraid all the time.
Sadly, a lot of people buy their crap. The truth is that a relatively small group of outsiders were able to get training to fly airplanes (and guiding one while in flight really isn't all that hard) into large buildings and easily located targets, and then did so.
It's well documented that the Bush administration was wanting to invade Iraq all along, and if you look at it, any connection between Iraq and 9/11 was tenuous at best. The excuse to invade was WMDs, and they'd have had that excuse even without 9/11.
What we have is a compliant and lazy media that doesn't question most of what comes out from the administration, and a stupid and lazy public who believes anything they hear on right-wing radio or see on right-wing TV, or hear from their fundamentalist preachers.
Sitting around worrying that there will be another attack simply plays into what they want you te believe. You should instead be taking every opportunity to campaign for good candidates at every level of politics, should be asking questions and encouraging others to think for themselves, to question what they hear in the public place.
Don't be afraid. It's what they want.

by bin laden and other radical muslims from Saudi Arabia, then there is no need for another attack, because we capitulated to their demands and got out of Saudi Arabia.
However, I do think that it is rather a coincidence that PNAC noted in 2000 that "the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event -- like a new Pearl Harbor."), and then boom in 2001 we get just that type of event.
Rather puzzling, isn't it?

a "catastrophic and catalyzing event". Anything would have done the job. They got lucky. Without 9/11 we would still have seen the drumbeat to war with Iraq over fictitious WMDs. And they'd still have been able to portray Democrats as weak on national defense and so on and so forth.
But you've got it exactly right that we've capitulated to what they want. Way too many people are fearful all the time. We announce "Terror Threat Levels" daily. We submit to ridiculous limitations on what we can carry on board. We are afraid to speak out about the encroaching restrictions on our freedoms. And if we do, we're branded unpatriotic. Yes, they won.

either they (PNAC) had an idea of what was coming and did nothing to stop it, had a hand in it, or there was some other faction out there familiar with their goals who delivered it into their laps in order set things in motion to further their own agenda.

let's face it catastrophes happen, sometimes major ones. You can't predict when or what, but they will come.
That is why we must elect strong leaders who care this country, about it's citizens' health and welfare. We have to elect smart men and women who are willing to do what it takes to shepherd this country through a crisis. Think Lincoln and Roosevelt.
Okay, well right now we've got George the drug-addled chimpman Bush. Personally, that scares the shit out of me.

26. Something horrible is ALWAYS going to happen. |
|
It's Soothsaying 101. Something great is always going to happen, too. It's a pretty meaningless observation. All levels of good and bad are in the future.
Should you worry specifically about the neocons promising another terror attack? No. First, they're liars. They don't care who they lie to or when they lie, as long as it helps them get their way. Second, you are more than 100 times more likely to die in a car accident or from heart disease than you are to even witness a terrorist attack here first hand. I'm not trying to trivialize the effect it has on those who are effected by it, I'm simply trying to put things in perspective. While the mass media ensured that we cannot see "9/11" without thousands of associated pre-programmed images and feelings coming to mind with our own thoughts and feelings, the fact is that most Americans weren't directly affected by the WTC, unsolved anthrax letters or the beltway snipers combined. They did, however, threaten our sense of security, and that brings me to my third reason.
Fear. That's how they operate. If you're scared, you won't act rationally. If you're scared, you'll trust the first person who can make you feel safe. And, if you're scared enough, you'll let that person break whatever rules they claim necessary to do the job.
There will be future attacks on America. It's a statistical inevitability. If we should fear anything, it should be allowing people to control our government who prove that they will do whatever it takes to increase that statistic.
