1. If the vote would have been a tie, they must wait for KKKarl to show up
KKKarl will twist an arm or two and threaten someone and miraculously the vote will change to be in favor of Bolton.

Something similar must happen, because these things change that quick.

14. Not for a committee vote.
I believe committee votes must be won, or they are considered lost. No tie-breakers.

20. The Arm twisting I was referring to was the committee
They will hold the vote until they can get the votes in the committee. It happens all the time with the repukes.

21. Fat lot of good that'd do.
Chafee has bigger problems than Cheney to deal with. Namely, losing his job if he allows the Bolton vote to go through. Not that he won't anyway, but still, he thinks he can keep it.

No amount of Cheney arm-twisting is going to change the fact that Chafee currently cares a whole lot more about what his constituents think than what the Bush administration, or anyone else, wants.

3. Cheney not available to be the tie breaker today?
Good. But, as soon as he is, they will go ahead with the vote. Or, they will let it languish and blivet** will just appoint him again when they are at recess.

7. Didn't realize it was in committee
I humbly apologize for giving Cheney powers he should not have. Got a wet noodle to whip me with handy? ;)

11. 10 Republicans + 8 Democrats = 1 GOPer threatening to flip.
Chafee?

Good to see the minority holding firm here... that was not a given.

12. Sore Loser Lugar
They hate democracy. If they can't win by the book or by cheating, they call off the vote.

They hate democracy.

13. If they call off the vote, buh-bye Bolton
There's a good chance he won't get through the Senate anyway without a lot of horse-trading. There are some repukes running this year who don't want to be seen as a Bolton-lover.

17. They will hold it after the November elections, but before January.
A LOT of really bad shit will hit the floor in that window of opportunity. Look for a lot of those 3 AM votes. DEMS on the Hill will have to 'pull a Santos' a time or two. ;)

19. Sen. Luggie is a total tool of the PNAC.
Lugar, Frist, Warner, Specter, Hatch, Stephens and Roberts should all be tried for war crimes.
