Has anyone figured out WHY nobody bothered to look at oil replacements? |
|
Why let a population grow so large, knowing resources were about to become too costly?
That's not the action of a culture that values life. I sure as hell don't know WHAT it is, but it's not valuing life to let population get so astronomically high, knowing that resources would become "economically unviable" in about ONE generation.

1. Because the BFEE is an oil family (and group of families). Supported |
|
by companies that make their money off war.

2. Because it doesn't make any sense to do that until |
|
you can make more money on whatever the new technology is than you can make on oil. As the price of oil rises, so will the demand for new technology to replace it. Then it will be profitable for people and companies to invest in said technology whereas it wasn't before.
It's kind of like the birth of the oil industry itself, which didn't become popular or necessary until whale oil became more expensive than kerosene.

3. bu$h/cheney/rove/etc. are working to get theirs. |

The rest of us, US are just the means to their end. We will be a extraneous burden after the oil runs out. Useless straws to blow away in the wind.

4. I live in Los Angeles, where we once had a developed trolley system. |
|
Edited on Sun Jan-22-06 12:05 PM by Marr
Oil and tire producers bought influence in the local government and had the trolley system dismantled. They destroyed functioning infrastructure that benefitted everyone, so they could make more money. We're now the capitol of traffic congestion.
They do what makes them the most money, and fuck everyone else.

7. Actually I think General Motors was also integral in that |
|
I watched a show on this years ago and I believe they were involved.
There was a similar trolley system in Detroit to the surrounding suburbs that they also shut down in that same era.

It would have cost them millions (on edit: this should probably be billions or trillions--I sound like Dr Evil from Austin Powers for God's sakes) to retool to make electric cars etc...I am sure they were also in cahoots with big oil.

8. The ultimate responsibility for population is on those who have babies. |
|
But the reality is that the average person does not know the consequences. And besides, it's time delayed. The world is populated because of the people who had children fifty years ago, or more.
And if a real leadership were concerned with the good of the people, they would be telling the people what is happening. Having said that, people have been telling us what is happening. We just chose not to listen.
I knew. And I knew it a long time ago.
I also know that being on the metric system is far superior in every way. But I can't use it because the idiot government didn't adopt it.
I'm just saying it's a two way street. You're right in asking the question. What kind of agenda do they have if they suppress information. People would have been more alert about breeding habits, were the gov't to freely discuss the ramifications.
To answer your question- Take a look at countries with declining populations. Their governments are going crazy. You can't have high productivity and sales with fewer people. Productivity thrives on more and bigger and growth. That is your answer.
I suggest we stop competing with each other.
