Is a bl*w job the ONLY Impeachable offense? |
|
For the life of me I can not understand how Bush is managing NOT to be impeached. He's lied, broken the law, cheated, stolen, evaded, misled and taken us into a faulty war. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE????
Is there NO ONE who can DO something about this?!?!?! I think it's time to get that asshole out of office- 2008 is to far away. With his track record I think we can clearly see that he will screw the country even more.
It's embarrassing to realize that Clinton was impeached for what was, for all intents and purposes, a family matter. Bush is being caught out on national security issues but it seems everyone is powerless to stop him. Why is that?
I'm serious about this- why do you think he isn't being impeached? Is there ANYTHING that we as citizens can do?

It's not a a high profit item.
The "Power Dems" don't get air time (see above).
Care that it's a republican led Congress, they're the ones enabling this Administration.
The solution is in the upcoming election. Donate, volunteer, caucus and most important...VOTE.

The thing that has me really pissed is that it seemed like we fought so hard to get nothing. There was a shit load of evidence against him in 2004 but that did not stop him and his repub hacks from destroying another election. Even with all the work that all of us do for the 2006 elections who is to say it will mean anything?
He's still President and we are still screwed.
I don't want to be gloom and doom- I WANT to see some fucking action from the dem leaders that we have supported. What, exactly, are THEY Doing about this? There is a big ass list of impeachable, treasonous things that Bush and his cronies have done. What are our candidates doing with the list? I want action.

You either die fighting or hand over your rights and admit defeat.
Which ever Dem it is that represents you do some research on them and their actions. The odds are they've done more than you've heard about in the media. If you're still not satisfied with them, call them, write them or even show up at their office if that's possible for you. If you're still not happy with them then support another Dem in the next primary election.
Or just gnash your teeth and fail your arms about in frustration. The choice is yours. ;)

2. That is the question we have been asking here for years... |
|
Our heads explode on a daily basis pondering that question. Sometimes, hourly. Lately, I just try not to think about it. It is more than apparent that we are living in a country with out any laws or justice. The White House is filled with criminals and apparently no one is going to stop them or make them leave.

This is one of those days when I don't see our light at the end of the tunnel- it just gets darker. The latest Iraq war developments are (IMHO) HUGE! And yet...nothing
He stole office in 2000. He probably stole it again in 2004. The entire administration has basically been shown for the liars that they are. AND STILL THEY SIT IN POWER. What the hell?
I have to believe that there is SOMETHING that can be done

I agree, I do not see a light at the end of the tunnel either- As a matter of fact, I shudder to think where this country will be in ten years.
There are no longer any checks and balances in our government, and it is quite clear there will not be any time soon.

I know that sounds like generic counsel, but I find it the only bright spot of my day and the only time I can forget about the rest of the insanity.
I work in a high school and I am doing my best to make sure the kids know what is going on.
Their general sentiment is, the government is going to do what ever it wants, so why should we care-
Not too encouraging, eh? Still I give them legislation to look up and discuss.
I tell them that if they don't know their rights as citizens, how will they know if their rights are being violated?
Some of them are starting to show interest, but many of them are just going to end up as cannon fodder. Hate to say it, but it's true and it breaks my heart.

I have been cheerleading an impeachment proceeding against Bush for years, and I find it hard to believe my own people in Congress are so skittish on it. It's time to do the right thing, and support Conyers in what will very likely be an impeachment case put together after the Dems win control of the House (see how optimistic I am?)

to protect this country and its Constitution. This was what the founding fathers had in mind when they wrote the Constitution. If the Executive or Judicial branches tried to take too much power, it was Congresses duty to check it.
These Repukes have proved that they are not loyal to America but to the shadow government that has usurped the GOP. They are all guilty of treason IMHO and for trying to install an autocratic form of government that is in direct conflict with our Constitution.

I believe the administration has "something" on every politician in office. Look, very few of us are even NEAR perfect. And many politicians who have risen to the rank of congressman or senator must have huge skeletons in their closets. Don't think for a second that these illegal wiretaps have been for nothing. They have been listening in on every conversation and getting dirt on every politician. Or, if that doesn't work, its real easy to bring up the anthrax threat. It was done ONCE with impunity, why not again. If I, as a politician, have a choice between the safety of my family or keeping my mouth shut, what do you think I do? You can go ahead and pass me the tin-foil hat, but how else do you explain the crickets in "that" branch of government?

31. Impeach? Dems Couldn't Even Censure Bush! |
|
While most Democrats thought it was good fun to censure Slick for a BJ, they couldn't even begin to censure The Smirk for the (much smaller, no?) offense of flagrantly violating the Constitution.Sorry, the Brave Sir Robin Democrats are not likely to impeach The Smirk unless forced at gunpoint. Now if you have a nice free trade agreement... or a draconian bankruptcy law... something a fella' or gal can get a good "quid pro quo" kickback on... then they can sink there teeth into it. But sorry, no shekels to be made in the impeachment game. Sorry. Go away.

The House is currently composed of 231 Republicans, 201 Democrats and 1 Independent. To impeach Bush will require a Democratic majority in the House and to convict him in the Senate would need the help of a number of Republicans. Impeachment is not conviction. Like any ordinary criminal, indictment is not conviction.

At least that would be a leading news story - from which it would be alot easier to put ALL of the (massive amounts of) evidence against him together in one spot for all to see.

13. Treason is not a Democratic or Republican issue. It's |
|
and American issue. It's these two men who were sworn to uphold the Constitution attempting to destroy it piece by piece that should be investigated and impeached if the investigation finds that they have violated their oaths.
True patriotic Republicans should be on board with this. If not then they are part of the shadow government usurping our Constitutional rights one by one and they should be impeached as well.

Congresspeople & Senators like Sam Ervin (of Watergate fame) who put the Country, Democracy, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights above partisan politics. With only a tiny handful of exceptions, our Congress today is a disgrace --- just striving to stay in power, hypocritically spouting pieties for the cameras that their actions negate, greedily sending as much $$ pork home as they can get their grubby mitts on and in debt and cahoots with the constituents they really serve: the K Street lobbyists. I say a plague on both their houses (Republicans & Democrats). Both are disgraceful and bringing this country to its knees and the doorstep of Fascism. When the History of this era is written it is going to be a very, very dark & evil chapter. For my money the only one worth a damn, who actually speaks up and has a spine, is Feingold.
