The Path to 9/11 is on in the UK now. |
|
It's been on for just over a half hour. So far it's all a about the 1993 WTC bombing and places the blame on the FBI for not keeping an eye on the "bad guys", thus enabling it to happen. No mention of Clinton yet.
The movie has that hand-held camera look that gives me a headache when it goes on for too long, and there are a lot of extreme close-ups of people - it's kind of strange, that.
Basically, so far I'm finding the thing a bit tedious. Five hours of it at this pace will put me to sleep.

1. I'm drinking red wine and trying to ignore it. |

Thankfully my housemate switched over to the Blackbeard movie (which, frigteningly enough, is probably more historically accurate.)

if the production of the movie is as bad as many reviewers say it is.

The camera work was giving me a headache, and that's saying a lot. Not to mention the set design. It was pretty lame.

And the wine was making things a bit fuzzy. :-)

|
The jerky camera work is driving me crazy too.
Also, the way it switches locations and people, I'm having a hard time keeping track of what's going on. If I look away from the television for even 30 seconds, I've missed a lot.

7. I may join you in watching Blackbeard. |
|
The actor playing him is kind of hot in that dirty pirate kind of way.
Mmm, pirates. Arrrr...

27. It's the one that was on the Hallmark Channel |
|
in the States back in June. It stars the Scottish actor Angus MacFayden (who also played Robert the Bruce in Braveheart, as well as taking a lead role a few years ago in a short-lived ABC series called Miracles, in which he was a priest who investigated (surprise, surprise) alleged miracles).
From what I saw of it, despite it being a Hallmark Channel production, Blackbeard looked like good fun, especially compared to the pile of crap that was Path to 9/11. Both movies were probably about equally accurate historically...

I got bored when I lost count of the number of insinuations of incompetence "from above" and blatant attempts to justify the failed policy of the Bush Admin. I need something stronger than the wine to stick this one out I think!
I wonder how they'll cover the Bush pre-9/11 months...

So it was Clinton all along who was reading "My Pet Goat" while the towers fell??
DAMN that liberal media of ours! They were lying to us all this time in order to protect that dastardly Clenis. HOW did we ever get so taken in? ;)

Are used for faux dramatic effect. It's a signature of bad moviemaking IMO.

The editing is choppy too; I'm having a hard time following it if I do anything except stare at the TV. I don't think I'll be able to stay the course with this production.

10. Hand held cameras are used on the tv series The Office. |
|
The premise on The Office is that it is being filmed for a documentary. I suppose the use of hand held cameras here is to give it a pseudo-documentary look.

but it's quite clearly not a documentary so the hand-held camera thing just isn't working. There's too much of it.

25. the camera work on "The Office" is much more subtle |
|
It doesn't insert itself into the show.
From the clips I've seen of "Path to 9/11" the handheld-camera motif is really overpowering and obnoxious.

3. I just watched the IRL season finale on ABC, 3 hours, no mention |

of the movie, absolutely no ads. Lots of ads for "Desparate Housewives" and "Dancing WIth The Stars".
Creepy. What's up with that?

14. What time is it on in NYC? I think some coworkers were in it. |
|
A few of us on a movie set were offered parts in a 9/11 fictional movie. I wasn't interested in what seemed like profiting off 9/11, but some of them accepted. I ran into them a few months later on another set, and they said they had been paid well.
I think I should watch at least part of it to see if this is the movie they were in.
Thanks in advance to anyone who answers what time. I'll take my television out of the closet.

The director of this garbage should never make another film. It is painful to watch with the camera style that they've used.
This film may work as a propaganda piece but as a film it is dreadful.

this film is a steaming pile of shite, both in content and the style of filming.
I hope somebody sues over it. Sandy Berger certainly should.
